POSITION: FIRST CLASS ALUMINUM WELDER

Overview;

Welding Supervisor/welder for 34 years with the US Coast Guard supervising marine and industrial Civilian and Military welders in the repair, fabrication, and installations of 5086 marine grade aluminum plate, pipe and extrusions on Coast Guard Cutters and boats to maintain operational capability for both afloat and ashore assets. I retired from the US Coast Guard after 34 successful years of service effective 01 Sep 2010.

I am highly skilled and have proven myself as a quality supervisor & welder. CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER 4 - Completed a 34 year career, marine applications experience for hull and structural applications for electrical, mechanical, electronic and underbody installations for new or repair work. Ability to plan, lay out, read blueprints, drawings for new applications, repair or corrective repairs.

 Supervised more than 45 full-time employees, or their equivalent, on a regular basis.

 Make decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees, or make related recommendations that are given particular weight.

 Schedule, assign, plan and monitor the work of welder/fitter/pipe shop personnel performing a variety of structural and marine welding installations and repairs for hull, mechanical and underbody projects.

 Plan and develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules, consumable expenditures and procedures for equipment maintenance.

 Review plans for all dockside and haul out operations to ensure compatibility with existing codes under USCG MLCA Standard Spec 0745 and AWS D1.2 Aluminum codes and inspection standards as required to maintain quality.

 Prepare material and labor estimates.

 Monitor the acquisition and use of materials.

 Maintain time, payroll, work order, material, equipment and other weld/structural shop records and submit reports.

 Train or inform employees of new work methods or procedures, changes in safety regulations, work policies and weld codes and standards.

 Ensures budgeting guidelines are met; prioritize shop expenditures to stay within budget and assist in preparation of capital and operations budgets.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 Knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials common to the weld trade.

 Knowledge of applicable weld codes, standards and regulations.

 Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices and techniques.

 Knowledge of welding applications and processes for aluminum plate, bar, extrusions and fittings aluminum and alloys.

 Skill in the installation, repair, repair techniques and inspection procedures for discontinuities and defects.

 Skill in estimating time and material requirements of assigned work projects.

 Ability to effectively communicate.
