I am currently working towards my master’s degree in professional counseling at Amberton University and I would appreciate any consideration for this position. I learn quickly and encourage feedback and constructive criticism. I have always been fascinated by the mental and behavioral processes of people and have had extensive life experience in dealing with addiction and depression in those around me. I am so grateful to the counselors at Burning Tree Recover Ranch for allowing me to shadow them; I have learned so much about addiction as well as healing from trauma and group work. I am extremely comfortable around the mentally troubled and have been told I have a natural gift of putting others at ease. I especially enjoy working in intense situations once I am comfortable with my role, whatever that may be.
I have passed my Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam and I have my liability insurance through the Texas Counseling Association. I have completed everything needed for my master’s degree and only my licensing exam left. I feel that I would thrive in this environment because of my strong desire to help others as well as my ability to maintain healthy boundaries while working with those in difficult or self-destructive situations. I am looking to obtain clinical experience under the supervision of a clinician so that I may gain the tools I need to be an effective counselor. I am eager to gain experience in all areas of mental health.
Thank you so much for your time, I am really excited to see where this may lead.
Sincerely,
Leslie Hunt

OBJECTIVE Through experience, I would like to gain an understanding in any and every area of psychiatric medicine. My long-term goal is to become a professional counselor and potentially pursue a doctoral degree. I love working with people and I am fascinated by mental illness. I am also extremely interested in all types of medicine. I currently work in an OB-GYN’s office and I really enjoy it, but I am ready for something more focused on psychology. The doctor is my father, which I think has given me the opportunity to know more about a medical practice than most. He trusts me with responsibilities that I may not have been able to experience in another office and my experience and knowledge is valued when it comes to the emotional challenges of our patients.
