WORK HISTORY

Position: Senior Director of Procurement and Inventory Management, reporting
directly to the President/CEO and CFO of the company.
Duties: Responsible for all aspects of procurement including, but not limited to
contracts, risk management, complex problem solution, forecasting, direct negotiations with vendors and supply chain inventory management. I direct a team of ten buyers, managers and support staff, responsible for purchasing hundreds of millions of dollars annually. I have extensive knowledge in agricultural commodities such as seeds, nuts and dried fruits direct from the countries of origin. Complete vendor management to ensure quality, timely deliveries, customer service at the best possible price. Included in my area of responsibility are all services and packaging materials like corrugate, film and PET’s, along
with all aspects of inbound transportation (ocean freight, rail and truck).
Giant Food Inc., Landover, MD August 1985 to July 2005
Position: Regional Manager/Director of Merchandising, Procurement and
Inventory Management (Peapod by Giant) August 2001 to July 2005
Duties: Responsible for all aspects of merchandising, and procurement of all food
and non-food categories. I managed a team of ten direct reports. Complete
responsibility for: Gross product margin, assortment, cost, negotiations,
contracts, risk management, profit, sales analysis, and budgeting. Also
responsible for inventory control, shrink, replenishment, forecasting and
other operational duties.

Position: Category Manager/Senior Buyer July 1995 to August 2001
Duties: Responsible for managing a wide variety of specific food and non-food
Categories including packaged food commodities. My duties included
directing and training of buyers, profit analysis, budgeting, assortment,
store planograms, promotional development and execution, private label
development including vendor plant inspections, risk management and
inventory control. I negotiated directly with brokers and manufacturers
regarding all business relations. I gained a complete working knowledge
of Category Management, this includes business plan development,
complex problem solution, data analysis, plan implementation and
achieving established goals. I was responsible for a broad range
of food commodities such as nuts, fruits and vegetables.
Promoted in August 2001.
Position: Grocery Buyer August 1987 to July 1995
Duties: Responsible for inventory control, new item presentations, direct
negotiations with brokers and manufacturers, private label development
and maximizing profits by developing new buying techniques. I gained
a wide variety of product knowledge during my time in this position.
I also worked with the IS department to develop new buying systems.
I was responsible for food items such as spices, juices, nuts and canned
fruits and vegetables. (Promoted July 1995)
Position: Store Retail Trainee August 1985 to August 1987
Duties: Responsible for all store managerial duties, including scheduling, supervising
employees and daily accounting. I was involved in all retail operations
of the store. (Promoted August 1987)
