Senior Estimator, Project Manager 2011 - current

Master Built Hotels Construction Ltd. is a small General Construction company , executing GC, CM and PM projects in the Hotel sector of the construction industry, ranging from $ 4 million - $ 6.5 million.

Senior Estimator and PM for the first of the Microtel (Canada) hotel chain projects, in Estevan, SK – a 36,600 sf, 4 floor hotel, valued at $ 6.5 million.

CHANDOS CONSTRUCTION LTD.

Senior Estimator 2011 - current

Chandos Construction is a medium sized General Construction company , executing GC, CM and PM projects in the ICI and corporate construction areas of the industry, ranging from $ 5 million - $ 20 million.

Provided per-construction estimating services, for Construction Management projects in Southern Alberta and Western Canada (Target stores, Calgary Winter Club)

Provided General Contracting estimates / tendering and post-tender analysis for ‘hard-bid’ projects in Southern Alberta (Co-op, schools, Sylvan Lake Town Hall, Hudsons’ Bay Company).

Assembled and oversaw predevelopment and final construction estimates, for new and renovated properties / stores in Western Canada (i.e. SuperStore, No Frills, Joe Fresh, Extra Foods), valued from $ 100,000 - $30 million.

Provided input in tendering processes, tender review / analysis, selection of project contractors & sub-contractors, contract compliance review, and project based risk management analysis.

Provided support to the retail construction division, including analysis and approval of contemplated change orders and project revisions.

Expanded the in-house estimating systems to include trade breakdown information, quantity surveys / unit pricing, as well as an historical project costing reference system.

Introduced the RSMeans cost estimating system, as an additional department resource.

MKA CANADA INC. 2009 - 2010

Senior Estimator

MKA Canada is a multidisciplinary construction consulting firm, providing creative solutions to the Construction, Legal and Insurance industries.

Reviewed disaster restoration project sites; assembled estimates and schedules; consulted with clients on costs and time requirements for rebuilding and repairing damages. Project values ranged from $ 1 million to $ 13 million

CANADIAN PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS INC. (CPPI) 1994 to 2008

CPPI bid, executed and consulted on over 80 retail, commercial, institutional & agricultural projects varying in size from 1,000 – 360,000 sf, and in value from $ 1,000 - $ 40 million.

Managed up to 14 employees and up to 40 project tradespersons. Gained extensive experience in:

- business development, forecasting and sales;

- project estimating, bidding, contract negotiation and execution;

- cash flow management; AR and AP control; personnel hiring / firing ;

- site management and control; liaison with Architects, Engineers and Owners;

- various tendering and contract styles (Stipulated Sum, Design Build and Cost Plus)

THE BAY (major renovation at Chinook Centre, Calgary) 1993 to 1994

Superintendent, for this 300,000 sf, $ 8 million renovation / expansion.

CAN-ARC PROJECTS / CANADIAN ARCHITECTURAL MILLWORK LTD. 1983 to 1993

Chief Estimator, Project Manager

This company, based in Port Coquitlam BC, operated a major millwork / custom cabinet facility, and executed retail, corporate and institutional renovation / tenant improvement projects, with annual revenues up to $ 10 million.

Handled estimating duties and supervised two additional estimators.

Submitted stipulated price and cost-plus estimates to various clients; negotiated construction contracts with owners, general contractors and sub-contractors; reviewed and executed CCDC and CCA contracts/subcontracts. Oversaw project sites and liaised between clients, office and superintendents.

Provided technical / revision pricing support to the Plant and Project Managers.
