Responsible for sourcing and maintaining inventory for over 2000 fabricated components. Monitor over 3700 components used to produce hearses and limousines including wiring harnesses, OEM parts, fabricated framing components, interior and exterior trim parts, glass, fiberglass, fasteners, raw material (cold and hot rolled), electronics, soft goods including carpet and vinyl, tools and fixtures, MRO items, lighting, wood components, and gas contracts used for production. Instrumental in establishing and maintaining a kanban system to run parallel with an MRP system. Negotiate pricing, contracts, long term agreements, shipping agreements, selling of excess and obsolete material, selling of scrap, and terms and condition discrepancies. Developed long term shipping schedules to minimize pricing and inventory while maximizing inventory turns. Update supplier base and item cards daily to maintain accurate records.

Schedule purchased components using an MRP system in an AS400 program. Monitor all outside processes including heat-treat, various plating’s, e coating, powder coating, plastisole, and phos and oil. Analyze customer schedules to support material decisions. Schedule production to support the shipment of over two hundred different parts including MIG and resistance welders, sub and finished assemblies and presses on an as-needed basis. Use various Excel spreadsheets to monitor inventory levels. Participate in Kaizen training, VAVE cost saving exercises and APQP meetings. Eliminated expedite charges (for purchased parts and outside processing) for the last three years and saved over $25,000 in freight costs last year with a program I produced.

Responsible for three buyers who purchased fabric, thread and various other commodities to support production for the automotive industry. Also responsible for three shipping and receiving supervisors who monitored eight shipping and receiving personnel. Other responsibilities included monitoring costs, departmental QS9000 work instructions, 100% on time deliveries, supplier performance, inventory levels and accuracy, customer service and various other duties required. Resigned due to plant closing.
Note: I resigned from P & A Industries in 1997 to pursue a management position at Findlay Industries only to find out fourteen months later that the plant was closing. Fortunately, P & A allowed me to return to my original position there.
Airfoil Textron, Bluffton, Ohio 1987 - 1994
Manufacturer and distributor of jet engine blades to military and commercial engine builders.

Negotiated pricing and issued purchase orders to support rebuilding of machinery that produced jet engine blades. Negotiated long term schedules to include price reductions and freight savings. Various commodities included raw material (hot and cold rolled steel, aluminum, copper and tool steels), carbide tooling, fixtures, gauges and miscellaneous tooling. Other commodities included electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission and lubricating components. Allen Bradley and Fanuc Controls were used to control the machines. Supervised four union employees daily and thirty-two union employees during the shut down process. Negotiated maintenance contracts for the plant including waste removal, preventative fire services, lot re-surfacing, grounds and roof maintenance. Resigned due to plant closing.
