Personal Statement

I am a friendly, loyal and dedicated individual who has an ambition to succeed in any given environment. Although I have extensive experience in the Web Hosting industry, I love to learn and expand my knowledge. I am always up for a challenge whatever the situation. I get along well with others, while also working efficiently on my own. I have owned and operated my own Hosting company (GServe Ltd) for over 5 years, working with Linux based Servers, providing customer support and marketing the business. I currently volunteer at the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville Texas, running the sound system for the praise band, choir, sermons and other events. I love technology and keep myself up-to-date on the worlds latest technilogical advancements.

I am able to setup and install various pieces of electronic equipment such as but not limited to TVs, VCRs, DVD Players, Game Systems (Wii, Xbox, Playstation), Home Theatre Systems, HiFi and Entertainment systems, and PC and Laptops.

I am very technically minded and work well with audio equipment and computer equipment. I am familiar with a wide range of industry standard equipment and software, including but not limited to mixing boards, CD players, microphones, Windows (2000, XP, Vista, Seven, Server 2003/2008) Operating Systems, Office 2000 – 2010, Mac OS, Linux Operating System, Sonar, Soundforge, Goldwave, Cubase.and many more.

I am familiar with several web programming languages including but not limited to HTML 4 and 5, CSS, PHP, MySQL and Javascript.

I have extensive experience with Web Hosting control panels, in particular cPanel/WHM at root level, DNS, FTP POP/IMAP/SMTP, SSH, Telnet, SCP, Remote Desktop and other related protocols.

I am familiar with a variety of different computer hardware and devices including but not limited to routers, modems, internal and external hard drives, memory, CPUs, printers and scanners and much more.

I am able to learn new skills (especially in a technological environment, ie audio equipment, computing equipment) quickly and am not afraid to ask if I do not understand something

I am not afraid to ask for help and advice should I need it

I have good problem solving skills

Work & Experience

First United Methodist Church of Huntsville December 2010 - Current

Sound Engineer / Technician (Voluntary position)

Responsible for the operation and general maintenance of the sound equipment in the church. This includes but is not limited to controlling and setting the sound levels during praise band rehearsals, mastering sound during a live service for both the church and the Channel 21 video team, ensuring all equipment is setup and put away and switched on/off correctly, recording and mastering services for future reference, and playback of media such as music and video..

GServe Ltd October 2004 - November 2010

Managing Director

GServe was a company I formed in England that provided web services to personal and small business users. I was solely responsible for all aspects of the company from managing the finances and filing of taxes, to building and installing dedicated servers and networking equipment, designing websites and customer support. The company was closed down in November 2010 when I immigrated to the US with my family..

Responsible for maintaining the college Novell Netware (later upgraded to Windows Server 2003 Active Directory) network, diagnose and repair student and staff computer issues, assist and to ‘fill in’ for the Network Administrator when required.

Work Experience Placement

During the placement, I experienced a wide variety of roles and got a detailed insiht into how a national radio broadcaster operates. I worked in every department, from answering phones in the studio and connecting the listener live on air, working with technical and repair teams, developing , administering and expanding website services, to remote broadcasting, writing a news bulletin and managing the CD library.
