Attn: Estimating Department
Re: Cost Estimator Position
Dear Sir or Madam;
As you can see by my resume, I have had vast experience in the construction industry. As a journeyman union carpenter, foreman, field supervisor, management & estimator. I honed all my skills and education to become part of the new ideas and techniques that have evolved, including reformation of old procedures and methods with a computerized approach to meet the needs of the 21st century. As for my education, I attended “The college of technical Labor for Carpenters and Design” completing a four-year course. The school prepares the individual with a diversified technical training program with blueprint design and understanding, estimating labor and material cost, design study of functional programs with manipulative instructions, rough/finish carpentry and structural steel projects with the use of surveyor tools. I also engaged additional courses on reinforced concrete, HV/AC ratings and installations, Electrical codes and Applications.
(See enclosed resume for further education)
Working as an independent contractor, I’ve designed and constructed fit-out offices, commercial/residential loft spaces, and professional stores with all carpentry, millwork, HVAC and electrical work designed and installed by my company. Most designs involved architectural woodwork, storefronts, electrical, mechanicals and sophisticated alarm systems. During these projects I discovered that the ability to deal with people effectively is essential, the exercise of good judgment based on varying situations and stringent deadlines gave me an opportunity to develop confidence in my abilities.
May I have an interview to discuss my qualifications with you in greater detail? I can come to your office at your convenience. Please inform me of a convenient time by calling or e-mail at:
