Accomplishments
Experience
Upon joining Benthos, Inc. I was tasked with implementing a Lean Operations Strategy for all areas within a 9 month time period. This goal was met along with 40% lower inventory levels, $300,000 favorable PPV, reducing factory variances by 98%, and reducing average product lead-time by over 75%
In my last four positions I managed the entire Supply Chain formulation and execution. In all cases this involved off shore suppliers from China and the Pacific Rim. PPV in all cases was positive in the first year and Supplier consolidation strategies added savings and efficiencies the first year also.
In the management of several Supply Chain Departments I have been able to lower yearly purchase costs by at least 10% each year. Included in these efforts were the Supplier consolidation efforts that attained a 75% decrease in the Active Supplier Base.
I have been responsible in several companies for the formulation and implementation of S&OP systems. In each case there was significant improvement in Customer On-Time Delivery and one instance the improvement exceeded 50%.
I have been certified CPIM by APICS
In my present and in prior positions I managed the Capacity Planning for the Manufacturing areas of the companies. This planning was driven by Sales Forecasts, ERP Forecasts, or Forecasts originating in my Planning areas.

To Whom It May Cover;
I am writing as an introduction to you. I am seeking a position as a Senior Management professional or equivalent so that I can use my considerable experience in the field to mold a Total Manufacturing Function for a company or corporation to meet the present world class expectations of a very sophisticated customer base.
Having worked for the past 29 years in the Manufacturing field for manufacturing companies in the Northeast I feel that I have earned skills comparable to the position that you are seeking. Listed are some of the accomplishments and opportunities that I have had during my career.
• I was responsible for the construction of a Materials and Planning system in a start up company supplying the Automotive Industry as a Tier One supplier. In two years this company was one of the highest rated suppliers to Ford and Chrysler in the electro-mechanical switching commodity.
• In my last four positions I was responsible for the entire Supply Chain formulation and execution. In all cases this involved off shore suppliers from China and the Pacific Rim. PPV in all cases was positive in the first year and Supplier consolidation strategies added savings and efficiencies the first year also.
• I have been the Lead Facilitator at two companies where Lean Enterprise Practices have been implemented to great success. My present company was recognized by AME as the Leading company as far as Lean development in the Northeast in 2005.
• In the management of several Supply Chain Departments I have been able to lower yearly purchase costs by at least 10% each year. Included in these efforts were the Supplier consolidation efforts that attained a 75% decrease in the Active Supplier Base.
• As the facilitator of a cost saving team I was personally responsible for the implementation of over $500,000 of savings in one year and over $1,000,000 for the team.
• I have been involved in the local APICS chapters and have earned my CPIM from that organization.
• I have participated in the Materials Lead in the implementation of Q1, ISO 9000 and 9002, TQE, and other Automotive industry programs.
• I have managed shipping areas serving both domestic and international customer bases and did support DOD/GSA shipping requirements.
I am a results oriented person looking for a position where I could apply all of my experience to form an efficient and successful Operations team. I would like to speak to you further to see if we could be of mutual benefit to each other. I look forward to talking to you about the position that you have open and I thank you for your time and consideration
Sincerely,
Rick Martin
