PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Combined Logistics Captains Career Course Instructor (11/11 – Present)
Responsible for the development of tomorrow’s Logistics leaders through the use of US Army doctrine, sustainment, tactical and command expertise. Develop, review, update and lecture instructional materials in a specific assigned subject area. Counsel students at the beginning and end of each phase and as necessary for individual students throughout the course. Assist students during classroom assignments of case studies, practical exercises, logistics exercises, computer simulations, and student projects by the use of their leadership and sustainment expertise. Administer and ensure security of exams and practical exercises. Instructors maintain 100% accountability of all testable material and practical exercise material. Augment exercise personnel, and have the responsibility for planning, coordinating resources, and assisting in executing a multi-echelon simulation training exercise. Chief of Operations (CHOPS).-Logistics (7/09-10/11):
Senior Lieutenant Colonel responsible for operational-level sustainment operations throughout the United States Central Command Area of Operations (USCENTCOM AOR). Synchronized unit’s actions throughout the AOR using command posts in Kuwait and Fort Bragg, NC. Executed daily, weekly, and monthly battle rhythm events for this 2-Star level Command (Major General). Battle tracked operations orders and fragmentary orders for an Expeditionary Sustainment Command (ESC), 2 brigades, and 8 Colonel-level Commands. Battle Tracked sustainment actions including Serious Incident Reports (SIRs) and Commander’s Critical Incident Reports (CCIRs) for over 12,000 soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s. Responsible for updates to status reports, databases and spreadsheets. Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects. Works in a team environment with independent assignments. Tracked and monitored Kuwait and Qatar Security Forces (SECFOR) activities and sustainment convoys into Iraq. Supervised 8 military personnel, 3 Department of the Army Civilians, and 6 Contractors while executing the Section’s $300k budget. Served as the Command’s lead for the Contingency Command Post. Reviews complete work of the OPCEN for technical quality, appropriate levels of coordination, consistency, logic, soundness of recommendations, and compliance with established procedures. Identifies deficiencies/shortfalls and corrective actions and directs revisions. Responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of all classified and unclassified message traffic received by the OPCEN, ensuring that all messages are disseminated to the Command Group, Staff Directorates and Staff Action Officers as required. Information and actions are typically critical and time sensitive in nature. Reviews current/future operations and prepares procedures and training accordingly. Reviews and analyses applicable operations, plans and directives and policies issued by CENTCOM, USARCENT and 1TSC. Perform immediate supervisory duties, supervises a workforce with rotating work schedules covering 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Assign works to employees based upon priorities, difficulties of assignments, and capabilities of employees; provides instructions on assignments, priorities, goals, and objectives of technical work. Sets and develops performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Takes disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands; counsel employees on problems and adjust informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives. Aide-De-Camp and Department Executive Officer Dept of the Army, Deputy Chief of Staff – Logistics. (7/06-7/09):
Served as the Aide-De-Camp and Department Executive Officer for a Brigadier General in the position of Army Deputy Chief of Staff. Managed front office operations for the general who was responsible for all logistics policies, programs, and resources for the entire United States Army. Directly coordinated actions for over 400 personnel in numerous sections and divisions. Managed every detail of all trips planned around the world for each of the generals to include trips to the Middle East, Korea, Germany, and throughout the United States. Coordinated the daily schedule of the generals to ensure their effective and efficient completion of their responsibilities. Helped in the management of critical staff actions involving Army transformation and change initiatives. Battalion Operations Officer,-Logistics (07/05-07/06):
Served as the Battalion Operations Officer consisting of 1,100 Soldiers in eight subordinate companies to include; four Forward Support Companies and MTOE equipment valued in excess of $90M, supporting the 4th Brigade Combat Team, the newest brigade in 3rd Infantry Division. Planned and supervised execution of battalion operations and tasking; preparing, authenticating, and producing orders; receiving, consolidating, and transmitting reports and briefing; maintaining the battalion’s situational awareness; developing allocation priorities for the command’s critical resources including time, personnel, equipment, supplies, training resources, and schools. Assistant Brigade Operations Officer, -Logistics (10/03-07/05):
Assistant Brigade Operations Officer in the 3rd Infantry Division Support Brigade; a thirteen hundred Soldier modularity redesigned sustainment brigade attached to the Multi-National Division – Baghdad at Camp Taji, Iraq, providing combat service support to full spectrum division counter-insurgency operation in the Baghdad area of operation during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF 04-06). Responsible for execution of all current operations including combat logistics patrols, Common User Land Transportation sustainment missions, and aerial resupply missions. Qualified over eight hundred Soldiers on 3ID’s first ever Combat Service Support (CSS) Table XII gunnery. Ensured over fifteen hundred Soldiers received critical training prior to crossing the Line of Departure (LD) into the combat zone of Iraq. Tracked over 450 combat logistical patrols and provided timely, accurate updates for all encounters with the enemy. Mission first, Soldiers always.
Company Commander. -Logistics (03/02-10/03:
Commanded Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 3rd Support Battalion (Forward). Provided combat service support to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division (Mech). Assisted with the establishment and relocation of the tactical operations center and provided administrative and logistics support for 425 Soldiers assigned to the Battalion, including Soldiers assigned to the headquarters company. Maintained the discipline, morale and welfare of 49 Soldiers and Officers. Maintained accountability for property valued in excess of $53M and supported the Division Command (DISCOM) consolidated Dining Facility. Ensured the operational readiness and maintenance of 33 pieces of equipment consisting of wheeled vehicles, power generators and special purpose equipment. Mission first, Soldiers always.
Commodity Manager, -Logistics (05/01-03/02):
Served as Division Maintenance Readiness Officer for the 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized) responsible for the combat readiness of all Low Density Fleets throughout the Division. Responsible for a high volume of requisitioning of a wide variety of materials, supplies and services, with a detailed knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) A persistent management style was instrumental in keeping this fleet at the highest possible readiness with available resources during an intense training period. Responsible for expediting and tracking repair parts focused on reducing non-mission capable supply time of Organizational and Direct Support Maintenance; by shifting from Brigade Management in the Materiel Office of the Division Materiel Management Center, to Commodity Management, this transition helped focus the Division effort in the areas of supply and maintenance. Improved the efficiency in reporting the Over 30 Report for non-mission capable vehicles that ensured commanders received accurate and timely information that enabled them to make sound decisions about prioritizing supply and maintenance actions. Expertly managed the timely flow of critical repair parts from all available resources to include interdivisional warehouses, FORSCOM, LAO, local vendors, DOR and wholesale depots were directly responsible for the Division’s readiness posture. Platoon Leader Observer Controller -Logistics (Army Reserve) (08/98-05/01):
Quartermaster Observer Controller for the 3rd Battalion Theater Support, 345th Regiment, Fort Gillem, Ga.
Planned, prepared, and executed lanes training exercise (LTX’s) for Company and Platoon size United States Army Reserves (USAR) and Army National Guard (ARNG) units throughout the 1st Army’s area of operation. Observed, controlled, and trained supported units and junior leaders in a tactical environment and provided feedback to the unit through informal After Action Reviews (AAR’s). Personnel Director -Retail (07/00-05/01):
Personnel Director for Racetrac Petroleum. Established and implemented all strategic objectives, policies and procedures. Included are both the strategic and transactional duties within every human resources area such as recruitment, employee relations, labor relations, benefits, compensation, training and payroll for 28 stores located in the Georgia market. Ensured that Racetrac Petroleum maintained compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) as well as the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).
Area Supervisor -Retail (06/94-07/98):
Area Supervisor for Racetrac Petroleum, recruited, interviewed, hired, evaluated and trained store managers, as well as, co-managers for all store assigned to my area of responsibility. Oversaw day to day operations of from 4 to 6 convenience store locations, assisted in finding real estate for new locations, did and conducted vendor negotiations. Found new vendors and maintained relationships with local zoning boards, city councils, and law enforcement organizations. Had daily contact with vendors; conducts limited market research; recommends suppliers, price and delivery to the Buyer; ensures that all Purchase Requisitions are tracked until generated into a Purchase Order and follows up to ensure completion of the order. Support Platoon Leader -Logistics (11/89-06/94):
Supply and Maintenance Platoon Leader of a Headquarters and Headquarters Service Battery of a 105mm Direct Support Battalion. Ensured administrative and logistical personnel are properly trained, manned and disciplined to provide the battalion with the most effective support possible. Performed as the Executive Officer and officially assume the role of Battery Commander during his absence for Headquarters and Headquarters Battery. Responsible for the maintenance of all unit equipment and supervised the operator training program, TAMMS, and PLL functions within the battery.
