Experience
Server, Assistant Manager
Three Margaritas Mexican Restaurant, 02/04-7/11
As the assistant manager of a multi-faceted family owned restaurant belonging to a large chain of restaurants, it was important that I follow a set protocol in managing vendor relations, account management, and training incoming staff. In the absence of the manager, I took on various responsibilities including handling staff, dealing with correspondence from the vendors, payroll, staff evaluations and new hires, staff scheduling and many more duties. It was my responsibility to ensure functionality of the restaurant with its high and low demands and to maintain a steady growth of profit that is both beneficial to the owners and staff
Manager
El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant, 01/99-01/04
As the manager and assistant manager of these two restaurants, I wore many hats; from orchestrating the space planning of our once-empty restaurant space, to establishing vender accounts, and writing the very first restaurant menus. These highly visible and demanding roles combined the duties of administrative support, HR representation, accountant management, reception, event planning, and providing excellent service.
Important facets of my job were vendor relations and employee representation, requiring great communication, skills that served me well in my negotiations with vendors and clients alike. My most rewarding role was in serving as champion for the employees ensuring that the new hires were given all the tools necessary to ensure their success.
Short turnaround times and completions of projects to a high level of excellence was the precedent of the owner and primary partners. The most challenging aspect of this position was in choreographing deadlines, despite constant interruption and without sacrificing attention to detail; all while concurrently setting the tone for the restaurant in order to create a sense of calm and lightheartedness amidst the frenetic pace. As a result, I have high expectations of myself-I’ve mastered the ability to find and utilize resources to maximize my time, and take great deal of pride in producing quality work.
Receptionist/Workflow Coordinator
SeaMar Clinic, 06/01-01/03
In this leadership role, I was responsible for directing workflow traffic, prioritizing time-sensitive requests, and dealing with work responsibilities in a very busy community clinic. The environment in this medical center was fast-paced and ever-changing, demanding high-energy, a great attitude, flexibility, and focus. In addition to my capacity as a workflow coordinator, I served as the first point of contact for urgent translations, inventory and detailed and demanding record keeping, requiring that I stay abreast of organizational changes. My position was multi-faceted, and afforded me the opportunity to interact with both internal and external customers of all levels. As a direct liaison between patients and the medical staff, I conducted doctor-to patient relations with leadership, poise, and polish.
