EXPERIENCES:

08/2006-Present: Research Assistant in University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL. Worked on numerical modeling and design optimization of piezoelectric bimorph energy harvesting from mechanical vibration.

1. Fully understand theoretical and applied mechanics, vibration and electrical circuit design.

2. Perform finite element analysis (FEA) of multi-layer beam structure vibration with modal analysis and harmonic analysis.

3. Develop numerical models for resonant frequency and power output of piezoelectric cantilever bimorph beam.

4. Design active vibration control system using piezoelectric sensors and actuators.

5. Analyze strain and stress distribution along multi-layer beam in ANSYS.

6. Perform structure vibration and shock test, data acquisition and vibration signal processing using FFT and PSD.

7. Perform design optimization of piezoelectric energy harvester using genetic algorithms.

The research work was implemented in MATLAB and ANSYS.

08/2008-08/2009: Teaching Assistant in University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL.

1. Laboratory establishment: assemble PLC control stations (DL205) and data acquisition systems (LabView).

09/2003-07/2006: Research Assistant in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Worked on melt refining and quality control of AZ91D Magnesium alloy

1. Develop quickly-detachable moulds for semi-solid A356 alloy casting and rotational Ar-blowing device to purify Mg alloy melt.

2. Investigate production flow and improve product quality of ADI crank in Jiangsu Wanli Machinery Co. Ltd.

3. Help establish workshop of Mg alloy melting and casting in Shijiazhuang Meiqi Science & Technology Co. Ltd.

09/2002-07/2003: Research Assistant in North China University of Technology, Beijing, China. Worked on wire tension and water temperature control system design based on ATC 89C51.

SKILLS AND TOOLS:

1. Solid theoretical background on materials mechanics and properties, vibration theory, finite element analysis (FEA) and numerical modeling.

2. Extensive experiences with lab work: structure vibration tests, piezoelectric sensors and actuators, stress measurement using strain gage, multi-channel data acquisition system with LabView and Matlab XPC Target, and Vibration signal processing.

3. Proficient on C and Matlab, extensive experiences with PID loops, embedded software programming, FEA and CAD software packages: ANSYS, ABAQUS and ProE.
