Financial Analysis and Planning / Regulatory Compliance / Team Building / Risk

Credit Policies and Procedures / Financial Controls / Reporting / Feasibility Analysis

Applying extensive knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control, I held up to $140M P&L responsibility and worked closely with executive management in determining financial strategy and company direction. I implemented policies and procedures that ensured regulatory compliance and successfully directed financial affairs, structured audits, and raised accountability company-wide.

• Analyzed cash flow, cost control and expenses to ensure the meeting of objectives

• Consistently met deadlines and demonstrated strong leadership abilities

• Implemented policies that ensured the closing process is timely and accurate

• Led cross-functional teams and communicated well at all levels

• Oversaw the preparation of detailed financial packages and reports for executive leadership

I regularly display a strong sense of responsibility, urgency and integrity in all my dealings. Outgoing and personable, I built strong relationships with banks, customers and vendors. I hold a BA in Business / Accounting from California State University, Fullerton (with honors) and have “Big Four” public accounting experience, a current California license, and passed the CPA exam in a single sitting.

SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Solidified closing process. Accounting Department was faced with diminishing credibility due to excessive turnover and missing GAAP practices. Established and implemented monthly closing calendar, regained cutoff reliability. Audited and restated accurate financial data in 90 days, uncovering $1.5M in profit that had been missed.

Established Auditing Quality Assurance program. AEGON achieved SOX compliance but needed program to ensure oversight. Created and instituted ongoing quality assurance initiatives to review and test process controls throughout US, Hong Kong, and Europe. Received clean SOX opinion and avoided $1M in annual audit fees.

Lowered delinquency rates. Upon hire recognized that AR risk was increasing, collections were below acceptable levels with 25% of accounts over 60 days past due. Designed and implemented risk management plan, including pre-sale review. Delinquency rates fell below 20% and personally collected 80% of $250K "uncollectable" account.

Negotiated Acquisition terms. A start-up, Imaging Supplies and Equipment acquisitions were in jeopardy with most attractive deals facing possible failure without secure financing. Structured banking and private equity terms and cemented relationships for $8.5M in capital. ROI’s ranged to 111%; annual sales grew to $40M in sixty months.
