* Led the $2 MM HMI effort for the new central control room. Effort included the HMI contractor selection and management, PKS HMI best practice development and creation of new PKS displays for 7 process units. Developed HMI test criteria. Also, identified HMI performance optimization opportunities and PKS product anomalies. Decreased HMIWEB display invocation time from 12 seconds to 3 seconds.
Senior Process Control Engineer, Marcus Hook, PA
* Responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the Transfer and Shipping Honeywell TDC3000 DCS. Provided hardware and software support for the Gasoline Blender, Waste Water, Honeywell Inter-refinery Pipeline and Storage Data Management (SDM) applications. Developed DCS applications to increase operator productivity.
* Led the effort to install the first overview display at Sunoco to help the process operators manage the increased work load caused by the installation of a new Sulfur Plant. Effort included contractor management and operations facilitation.
* Configured #2 Tank Farm’s Honeywell Local Control Network (LCN) and Area Database. LCN included Communication Link Module/Application Module (CLM/AM), Computer Gateway (CG), Enhanced Programmable Logic Controller Gateway (EPLCG), History Module (HM) and two Universal Stations (US). Built DCS points, created Picture Editor graphics and configured history groups. Assisted Honeywell with the installation of SDM.
* Configured new Honeywell High Performance Managers (HPM) in support of the Benzene/Toluene/ Xylene (BTX) Reformer unit reinstrumentation and the new Carbon Monoxide (CO) Boiler projects.
* Developed training course on the Transfer and Shipping TDC3000 applications. Trained instrument/electrical and process control personnel.
* Led the effort to upgrade the Refinery’s obsolete crude blenders to TDC3000. Designed and implemented HPM control strategy that stabilized crude control.
* Championed the Refinery’s alarm management effort. Applied Beville Engineering’s alarm management methodology to the BTX Reformer unit to optimize alarm system. Reduced standing alarms by 80%.

DCS Engineer
* Maintained Xanthan Gum factory ABB MOD300 DCS and developed DCS applications to improve Xanthan Gum productivity and volume.
* Initiated the use of ABB PC Templet Generator to expedite increasing history data deadbands to improve performance of the history nodes. Changed DCS historized tags deadbands in two days. Traditional method would have taken several weeks.
* Used ABB Pagebuilder and CCF programming to develop DCS area status boards for the nutrient room, F-units, beer wells and solvent recovery areas to enhance shift-wide and factory-wide communication.
* Developed laboratory application using ABB PageBuilder, CCF programming and Taylor Control Language to enhance the communication of the Xanthan Gum laboratory data between the laboratory technicians and the manufacturing personnel.
* Performed Year 2K testing on control applications in the Xanthan Gum area.
* Updated plant P&IDS to reflect as-built DCS database.
MOBIL OIL CORPORATION - Now EXXON-MOBIL (1992-1997)
Control Applications Engineer, Beaumont, TX

* Developed Honeywell Application Module Control Language (AM CL) program to automate ethylene furnace sample line blocking to prevent damage to the line during furnace decoking.
* Participated in Mobil’s Grassroot Para-Xylene Project Honeywell DCS factory acceptance test (FAT). Checked instrument readings, control loops, graphics and group displays on DCS. Helped FAT meet project deadline.
* Developed and instructed an advanced process control training course to increase console operators’ understanding and utilization of the Furnace Feed Maximization DMC Controller.
* Initiated the repair and support of the plant’s Bambeck CO trim controllers which reduced the plant’s annual fuel gas expenditure by approximately $11K.

* Assisted with on-site, full plant testing of FCC unit at Mobil's refinery in Woerth, Germany to apply Honeywell's Predictive Control Technology (PCT).
* Redesigned Woerth refinery's Naphtha Pretreater Depentanizer tower trays and internals to cope with corrosion and gain an increased feedrate using Simulation Science's PRO II Simulation Package.
* Developed enhanced process data trending and controller tuning application on Honeywell TDC3000. Project involved use of Picture Editor graphics and Application Module Control Language (AM CL). Also applied Honeywell's XY Plot software package to correlate process data retrieved from History Module using AM CL at Mobil's Process Control Lab.
* Developed generic computer program to validate MIS data on an IBM RISC Platform. This project linked the advanced control system of the Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit at Mobil's Paulsboro refinery to a higher level optimizer.
