Site Lead for Oracle ERP Implementation

Planning, Inventory, and Manufacturing Engineering tracks.

As part of a team of plant and business unit personnel, designed and implemented the first Oracle 11i based ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system for an Alcoa aluminum rolling mill. Collaborated with U.S. and European counterparts to define requirements and design business processes, reports, and associated documentation for use with the new system. Designed customizations for processes that could not be supported with standard Oracle. Devised tests of the system for use in CRP (conference room pilot), UAT (user acceptance testing), and DITL (day in the life) testing. Assisted end users as first responder for system issues during startup and stabilization of the system.

• Overcame numerous obstacles which required diligent research, problem solving, and analytical effort.

• Managed 6 data conversions from the legacy AS400 system to Oracle over the course of the project for items, BOMs, routings, inventory, and related information.

• Resolved complications which arose due to the integrated nature of ERP systems through intense inter-track negotiations.

Buyer

Purchased maintenance, repair, and operating supplies, as well as contracted services and direct materials for two aluminum rolling mills in San Antonio and Texarkana, Texas. Utilized competitive bidding, corporate contracts, and local sourcing to achieve objectives set by Alcoa’s corporate purchasing group.

• First in the division to successfully use online bidding (formerly FreeMarkets; now Ariba) to issue a contract.

• First in the division to work remotely with Alcoa personnel in China to procure fabricated machine parts using an online bidding process which allowed domestic suppliers to compete directly with Asian suppliers.

• Managed the conversion from local sourcing to corporate leveraged suppliers for most goods and services, achieving 98% utilization of corporate contracts during my tenure in purchasing.

• Led the implementation of Oracle Purchasing and Inventory at our plant.

• Implemented optimized procurement processes to significantly reduce costs in purchase order and invoice processing, exceeding goals set by the corporate purchasing group.
