B.E. Project

Role- ANSYS Solver

(Dec 2010 to April 2011) Title: Study of flow through venturi pipe for EGR application in CI-engine.

Objective: Investigate the details of incompressible flow through C-D nozzle using velocity, pressure, & temperature distribution.

Scope: Stress calculation part may be added which might be useful in mechanical design of the C-D nozzles.

Brief Procedure:

In the developing countries like India, emission from vehicle is the prime source for pollution especially in the rural area, where the fuel extracted from residual & vegetable is used. It not only reduces the overall efficiencies, but leads to the bad performance of the engine. In order to overcome it, the diesel engine has undergoes very significant improvements in terms of fuel economy and exhaust emissions. EGR system effectively reduces NOx emission from diesel engine, particularly at high load, when it emits more NOx. In the EGR layout we had fitted a venturi & allow the exhaust gas to flow through it. The venturi model is then meshed & applies necessary condition. It is then solved into three step, i.e. preprocessing, solution, and Post processing.

Tools Used: ANSYS software.

Benefits to the company: The EGR rate increases up to a certain minimum area, causing a drop in excess air ratio thus increase in fuel consumption.

Technical Project Title: Hydraulic Arm.

Objective: Model a hydraulic arm for lifting a Purpose.

Material Used: Plywood sticks, Syringe (3), Screws, Plastic tubes, Water.

Description: Modeled a hydraulic Arm, which can efficiently lift an object, rotate as well grab and used in the assembly line.
