EDUCATION
University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus Graduation Date: June 2009
BS Chemical Engineering & Certificate in Industrial Biotechnology
DPA: 2.88 & GPA: 2.83 on a 4.0 scale
EXPERIENCE
May 2009 “Production, Assembling, Packing” ,Unilever Co., Las Piedras, PR
November 2007-June 2008 “Sales Assistant”, Marianne Stores, Humacao and Mayagüez, PR
August 2006-December 2006 “Characterization of SIBS, SEBS and Nafion®”, University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, Department of Chemical Engineering, Dr. David Suleiman. DMA, TGA, and DSC experiments were carry out to analyzed effects on samples using different cations (Mg+², Ba+², Ca+²). These membranes are used for Fuel Cells, Chemical Protective Clothing (CPC), Ion-Exchange Membranes, and Supercritical Fluid Processing.
January 2006-June 2006 “Corrosion Degradation of Fiber-Reinforced Composites”,University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, Department of Chemical Engineering, Dr. Narinder K. Mehta. The focus of the experiment was to simulate an electrolytic couple under “real world” environmental exposure conditions (seawater and humid air). Consequently, EIS experimental work was carry out for evaluating the corrosion degradation processs of different composites samples.
WORKSHOPS
Biotechnology Manufacturing Fundamentals
The principal objective was awareness; to know about biotechnology and its applications in industries. Experimentally, we put in practice what we learned about DNA technology as an example of all steps related to DNA extraction. Also, we learn how to recognize important microorganisms used in biotechnology and we became aware of the unit operations in a biotech facility. They focus on cleanrooms and all biotech advances.
Process/Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID)
The P&ID as well it says by its abbreviations is a piping and instrumentation diagram which tell us about what and how the process is carrying on. They give us different study cases to identify pipes, type of valves and fluid flow (gas or liquid) to get familiarized with the diagram code.
Better Process Control School as Prescribed by the USFDA
The general approach was canned goods: Control Principles of Thermal Process, Acidification and Evaluation of container locks using the Food Processors Institute book. Some relevant topics discussed: 1) microbiology of food thermally processed (it deals with microorganisms like fungus, yeast, bacterium and microbiological damage. 2) acidification of food: pH measurements and process temperature. 3) food containers handling, a little bit of safety container designs ( metal, glass, plastic or cardboard) to guarantee a good quality of the product. 4) food industry cleanness for consumer health protection. 5) records and responsibilities of the industry according to the federal regulation code (Topic 21)
Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)
It has to deal with employees in the work area including safety aspects. Good practices has to be done always taking into account the vision and mission of the company in order to reach the production, to guarantee a safety ambient and to minimize any risk of accident.
Introduction to Computarized Validation Systems
The ways of how to do a validation process were discuss in general. Validation is a documentation process which consists of multiple steps in order to meet the requirements regulated by the FDA or USFDA. Every company is responsible to do validation processes depending on the product nature and its specifications. Upgrades reports are essentially for the industry if there is any change. It has to include several aspects of an industrial process. Some of them are: 1) equipment performance. 2) all equipment specifications of the manufacturer company. 3) cleanness of the equipment. 4) a pretty detail procedure of a process to make any kind of product.
Project Management
The project manager has to deal with teamwork. Not as a supervisor, not the only one, but as a leader, working with everyone with a purpose. The principal function of the project manager is to assume that everyone is participating in the project, to keep an eye on everything, and making sure all aspects are accomplished.
