NETDOX -- GIS Based Asset and Fault Management in Optical Fibre (FTTH) Networks:

This is a single integrated product that combines the capabilities of a Network Management System (NMS) and a Geographical Information System (GIS) especially aimed at managing fibre to the Home (FTTH) optical fibre networks from the perspective of a given service provider to help improve network reliability (such as fault localization and remedies) and prevent revenue loss due to optical fibre cut at any underground location. The Network Management part provides real-time monitoring and management capabilities that enable a service provider to detect faults and identify performance issues in the network.

The GIS part gives the precise layout of the entire FTTH fibre network as well as all associated equipment on a geographical map, along with streets, buildings and other physical features. This assists in detailed geographical asset management. It documents the physical network in sufficient detail to help service provider staff pinpoint the precise physical location at which faults have occurred. This allows for speedy repair and saving of revenue loss due to interruption in service.

Responsibilities include:

• Research, design & Developing customized tasks as per client requirements

• Coding in JAVA , Hibernate , XML configuration

• Identify and solve defects in software programs

• Update software with the current available ARCGIS Runtime Engine

• Designing Application UI, Database, Reporting

• Writing spatial or non-spatial queries in SQL or HQL

• Coding, Testing and Debugging of Application.

• Responsible for plotting the Optical Fibre Cable and Cable routes for primary, secondary, Long Haul, DWDM network and drop wires.

• Responsible for GPS survey for Client Network Sites, Fibre Cables, Termination Points, Poles & Cable Cut for making a detailed GIS map of Telecom network.

• Responsible for installing all the GIS software at client ends and providing the updated data through VPN or remote terminals.

• Downloading data from GPS instrument and plotting them as a point in a map.

• Attaching the required information with the points.

• Perform routes and Network analysis tasks

• Digitizing road network and also plotting fibre cables along the route on the map

• Physical survey and ground verification of the base map

• Geodatabase creation with the help of ArcSde9.2, 9.3 or 10 and XML workspace import or export

• Calculation of route length using ArcGIS Projected coordinate system (UTM)

• Conversion of existing paper or CAD document maps or any format other than ESRI shape file in to GIS along with proper coordinates & spatial reference.

• Documenting and creating user manuals of product

• Training the staff about the Application related work
