Overview: Write, monitor, and implement WPS/PQR and Welder Qualifications per prints for construction/fabrication to ASME Sect. IX Code or D1.1 Structural Welding Code using several different types of alloys and welding processes, as well as writing, monitoring, and implementing Quality Management Systems (QMS) for machine shops and fabricators in the Boiler/Pressure Vessel industry. Will assure compliance to industry standards such as, but not limited to ASME, ANSI, API, Q1, AWS, and ISO. Also implement other quality principles such as (TQM) Total Quality Management and “Kaizen” continuous improvement, Six-Sigma just to name a few.

Monitor health and safety issues on a daily basis. Depending on project I am directly responsible for approximately 1-12 employees on any given day.

Gray welding is a fabrication shop of major construction projects to AWS D1.1, ANSI B31.1-3, API, and a manufacture of Pressure Vessels that are certified to ASME Sect. VIII & IX. Using several types of alloys and welding processes. Supplier of service to:

Ex. Dril-Quip, Cameron, Hydril, FMC, Weatherford, National Oilwell, Varco, Oilstates, Oceaneering.

Many hats where worn, my duties for the most part was QA/QC Manager, Purchasing Manager and Project Manager. See the following for details:

QA/QC Manager:

Assurance of company compliance to Quality Management System (QMS) for ASME “U” & “R” stamp, certified and implemented WPS/PQR and Welder Qualifications per ASME Sect. IX, API 6A, and AWS D1.1. Also performed metallurgical analysis, AWS certified welding inspection, weld engineering, vendor surveillance, state board audits, national board registration, radiographic film interpretation, gage calibration, corrective action request and customer relations. Non-Destructive testing. Level II certification in Magnetic Particle testing and Dye Penetrant testing.

Purchasing Manager:

Material procurement per (BOM) bill of materials, expediting vendors, subcontractor approval, cost analysis, cost reduction, and purchased tooling for manual drill presses and lathes.

Project Manager:

Wrote routers for industrial operations ex. (machining, welding and fabrication).

Specification review, drawings and document control, design control, and subcontractor surveillance. Made sure all aspects of project were being performed and trouble shooting problems that occur.

Adam’s Valves manufactured and tested butterfly valves for the petro-chemical industry.

They were ISO 9001 certified.

My duties included but not limited to the following:

Assisted in the development and implementation of requirements mentioned in the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Wrote corrective action requests and evaluated if parts were fit for use or scrap. Performed receiving inspection, in process inspection and final inspection. Providing verification of critical characteristics. Complete dimensional layouts per print for first article and final inspections. Part traceability was verified. Gage calibration on Micrometers, Calipers, Height gages and pressure gages as an example.

I had to use process capability studies and statistical process control techniques ex. AQL/AOQL, X & R Bar charts, P- charts, and Histograms.

Also performed Non-Destructive testing. Level II certification in Magnetic Particle testing and Dye Penetrant testing. Radiographic film interpretation

Previous Employment: Paragon Industries – Sapulpa Oklahoma

07/01/90 – 09/08/92

Paragon is pipe manufacturing facility. We made API 5L and API 5CT certified pipe. The coils of still would come in and then it would be fed into the roller system and formed to the appropriate diameter. It would be ERW welded and annealed. The pipe would then flow thru a series of inspections steps and other production process.

My duties include but not limited to the following:

Chief inspector, I had to lead a team of 5 inspectors on the floor. 2 shifts

Certified Quality Technician and Lab Technician responsible for the Quality Management System (QMS). NDE Level II Ultrasonic Technician

Chemical and physical testing in the lab, review grain structure, hardness, tensile strength, failure analysis, defect analysis etc. Ultrasonic testing of welds.
