Assignment : The strategic middle office systems (SMO) support the core processing flows for the firm's business.

SMO is based on a distributed model and comprises of a number of sub systems. Reports are generated from both the main SMO system database environments. HOODINI_PRD, the main SMO database This database holds all core SMO data. This includes all transaction-related data, such as trades and positions, and all static data, such as financial instruments, accounts and organisations.

This database is replicated into PRD3 SMO_XFILES2, the 'XFiles' database This database holds key SMO data in a form more amenable for reporting.

The data is highly denormalised. The database is populated periodically through the day, with a final update during the early stages of the overnight batch.

So there was a requirement of a system which generates the report in no time and also helps in the distribution the Reports.

As a result, it is always an excellent idea for the data warehousing group to tune the ETL process as much as possible.

Project - WebMethod To Pentaho Kettle Migration

Assignment : A Kettle is being used in Research IT to upload the market data sent by various vendors (Bloomberg, Reuters, MSCI...). The data transformation services mainly stored procedures executed in the database are run through Kettle.

Kettle is also used for data transfer between different databases. For example, the routine to transfer and update client data between CIS (Oracle Database) and www.clsa.com (MSSQL Server) is being done through Kettle.

Research Distribution, which basically deals with sending CLSA research to various distribution houses, is being developed in Kettle. The PDF documents send are being tagged and RiXML specification is used for sending the metadata.

Assignment : TIBCO Hawk is a tool for monitoring and managing distributed applications and operating systems.

The work required to monitor applications and systems is performed by TIBCO Hawk agents. An agent can be a rulebase, rulebase map, or schedules object.

An agent runs on each node on the network and monitors local conditions. Each agent uses collections of locally loaded rules organized into rulebases to apply monitoring logic.

A rulebases tells and agent how to monitor particular application or system resources and what actions to take when specific conditions are detected.

The TIBCO Hawk display application subscribes to alert messages generated by TIBCO Hawk rulebases and presents them in an organized view.
