Recent Research Experience
[01/2010-present] Numerical Study about the Cell Detection in Micro Coulter Counter
Task: The micro Coulter counter is a device to detect the cell size and characteristics. This project focuses on the whole detecting
process including the fluid field and electric field. Here the CFD researcher needs to generate a model to depict the hydrodynamic
focusing phenomenon and the coplanar electric field sensitivity. Overture (open source software) and Matlab are used in this project.
[10/2012- present] Numerical Study about the Gas-Liquid Flow in Micro Channels
Task: The bubby and slug flows are often used in microfluidic devices. Here the CFD researcher uses Gambit and Fluent (UDF) to
simulate this model. The correlation between the gas/liquid slug length and the gas/liquid velocity are studied. Also the impact of the
micro channel geometry is considered in the project.
[5/2012-6/2012] Numerical Study about the Nozzle in Vessel Clogging
Task: The vessel clogging in medical field can be treated as a small nozzle. Here the researcher needs to simulate the velocity profile at
the different positions of the cross sections. Gambit 2.4, Fluent and Tecplot360 are used to get the velocity contour. Here we use the
Old Coin method to generate the grid and find the correlation between the velocity profile and the nozzle geometry.
[5/2012-6/2012] Numerical Study about the Correlation between the Fluid Mass and Pressure in the Hypodermic Syringe
Task: The process of time-pressure fluid dispensing has been widely employed in the semi-conductor industry. Here the correlation
between the fluid mass and the inlet pressure in the hypodermic syringe needs to be studied. Gambit 2.4 and Fluent is used to simulate
the fluid field. The plot of mass VS inlet pressure is compared with the published paper to validate our simulation.
[3/2012-4/2012] Numerical Study of the H Rotor Aerodynamic Performance
Task: Study the aerodynamic performance of the wind turbine. Study the commercial software Gambit 2.4 and Fluent and use them
to get the power coefficient of the wind turbine by the help of my colleague. .
