The objective of my internship was to control the vertical movement of scale model buildings through an embedded system. The embedded system had a main module that interfaced to several driver modules. Each scale model building had a motor and driver module. To control the driver module, the host would send the proper signals. All modules contained 8-bit microcontrollers.
• In charge of the PCBs of the main module and the driver modules, from etching to soldering components.
• In charge of firmware development, from designing to troubleshooting code.
• Provided basic mechanical skills, including the use of hardware tools, to integrate various parts of the system.

RELATED PROJECTS LPG Fumigation for Diesel Engines, Thesis 2008
De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines
The objective of the thesis was to create a fumigation system for a diesel engine. The system includes a number of sensors that would monitor operating characteristics of the engine such as revolutions per minute, manifold pressure, vehicle speed and exhaust temperature. An electro-mechanical valve would regulate the flow of LPG into the injectors. The system seeks to achieve the optimum mix of LPG and diesel that would result to a diesel engine that produces reduced pollutants and soot emissions and increased torque.
• In charge of creating the fumigation system which interfaced to several engine sensors.
• Designed and etched the circuit layout for the fumigation system’s PCB.
• Wrote code and uploaded the firmware to the fumigation system’s microcontroller, a Microchip PIC16F877A.
• Wrote a macro in Office Word to convert acquired raw data into useful, relevant test results.
Robotics Project 2008

The objective of the project was to fabricate a mobile robot that could follow a line while avoiding obstacles along that line.
• Led a team of four in the development of a mobile robot and completed the objectives.
• Designed a battery-operated robot capable of following a line and avoiding objects along that line.
• Designed and created a 3-wheeled platform for the robot.
• Designed and etched the circuit layouts used in the robot.
• In charge of firmware development and uploading the firmware to the robot’s microcontroller, a Microchip PIC16F877A.
