Exposure : Atmospheric & Vacuum Distillation Unit

INDIAN OIL is an public sector enterprise & is listed in fortune 500 companies at 98th position. Indian oil is playing a major role in crude refining in India with seven high capacity refineries positioning in all over India.

Atmospheric & vacuum distillation unit (AVU), is the mother unit of Panipat refinery. It generally deals with Mass transfer operation for refining the crude with the help of Distillation process. Working there for 8 weeks was a great experience & lot about chemical technology skills were renowned.

Duration : 6 weeks (July 2010 – August 2010)

Organization : Associated distillery Ltd, Hisar

Exposure : Alcohol Distillation Process

ASSOCIATED DISTILLERY LTD is situated on the by pass road Hisar Cant., Hisar. The distillery covers about 85 acres area. It has an installed capacity of 40.000 ltr/day. This distillery is the leading supplier of liquor.

Molasses Plant this is the major method in manufacturing of alcohol from cane molasses, which is a by product in the process of sugar manufacturing in sugar mills. Working there for 6 weeks was a good experience & also learnt that alcohol can be used for portable as well as industrial use.

PROJECTS

Minor Project on Designing of ATMOSPHERIC DISTILLATION UNIT

Description: Process in which a liquid or vapour mixture of two or more substances is separated into its component fractions of desired purity, by the application and removal of heat. The process based on the principle of volatility and Boilling point.

Major project on Manufacturing of ETHYLENE GLYCOL

Description: Ethylene Glycol usually called glycol is the simplest Diol. Diethylene glycol and Triethylene glycol are oligomers of mono ethylene glycol. Studied about the process used in its production & also designed one of the equipment i.e. shell & tube heat exchanger.
