President / Chief Operating Officer

President/Chief Operating Officer for $2.5 billion assets under management publicly traded thrift with 34 community bank locations in multiple states. Led 10 member senior leadership team in collaborative effort to achieve and exceed tactical goals, develop vision for future growth and development into new markets, products and services through enhanced sales processes. President/COO had the responsibilities for the day-to-day line operation for mortgage, retail, commercial and consumer lending, deposit services, branch and internet delivery channels. Chief Financial Officer 2002 to 2010

Had CFO responsibilities for Bank from 2002 to 2006 when promoted to President/Chief Operating Officer. Remained as CFO for publicly traded holding company through 2010.

Achievements

• Developed and positioned team and staff for readiness to new markets and opportunities.

• Instrumental in ROE enhancement in a period of interest margin decline by recommending accelerated growth, thereby increasing the leverage ratio. As a result, net income also increased by 12%.

• Implemented a deposit reclassification program that entailed only five minutes of added work daily and increased annual earnings by $300,000.

• Designed, implemented and monitored an Overdraft OD waive policy that produced annual increased fees of $400,000.

• Reengineered and automated several manual processes, thereby decreasing efficiency ratios from 30% to 27% in 15 months.

Served as President and functioned as CEO of a startup consolidated backroom service company providing accounting, profit planning, investments, check operations, accounts payable, payroll, marketing, AL management and other support services to Liberty Financial Corporation. LFC had 13 financial service organizations including commercial bank and thrift charters, leasing, insurance and a finance company. This highly profitable, dynamic company served markets in Iowa and Arizona via a 40 branch network. Held position on Executive Committee of the Holding Company reporting directly to LFC President and had 8 bank presidents as direct reports.

Achievements

• Effectively stabilized a startup backroom services operation, customer service ratings from customer banks increased from a “D” letter grade to an “A” within 18 months.

• Consolidated the management of the banks’ investment portfolios and enhanced earnings from a key segment of those portfolios by 125 basis points within one year.

• Initiated changes to overdraft procedures causing fees to double within one year.
