Work Experience:
Process/Quality Engineer at Viswa Lab Inc. (Houston, TX, USA) Apr 2010-Aug 2011
- Supervising the day to day operations & Final Fuel Report sending to the client apart from handling the Maintenance, Purchase, Quality departments & assisting in matters of technical expertise to the management with numerous research studies on Marine Fuel oil quality.
- Preventive & Breakdown maintenance of all the sensitive instruments like ICPs, FTIR etc. and heavy-duty fuel testing instruments like Fuel Combustion Analyzer (FCA) & other auxiliaries in the lab. Handled procurement & Supplier development.
- As the Quality engineer, successfully passed the ISO 17025 audit with zero non-conformances by exhaustive studies related to repeatability, reproducibility of the test results and precision of the instruments and taking the necessary corrective action to better the results and presenting to the auditor. Daily QC checks on the floor were performed and any technical or operational glitches were resolved. Also managed ASTM Proficiency testing for the lab.
- Involved in many Tribological investigations and Ferrographic study projects on the failure of Piston rings and connecting rod onboard vessels and assisted in preparing report for the concerned vessel. Project tracking by utilizing MS Project.
- Undertook Continuous Process improvement & value stream mapping activities.
Project Engineer at Pragati Service (India) Nov 2007- Nov 2008
- Responsible for supervising and project planning of multiple Turnkey project sites.
- Supervised execution of many projects by drafting the plant layout, studying the P&ID, supervising pipeline and structural fabrication, modification or development of the process, erection & on time commissioning of the project without any periodic or financial overruns.
- Performed Breakdown maintenance on any machinery involved in the project.
- Vendor development, handling procurement & cross functional project tracking using MS Project.
Intern Mechanical Engineer at Dattatraya Engineering Works (India) Apr 2005- Oct 2007
- Responsibilities included planning manufacturing process schedule, supervising the production jobs & ISO 9001 quality control related checks on the shop floor.
- Supported design layouts and associated assembly and fabrication drawings and bill of materials by working with CAD designers. Vendor development for consumables & handling procurement.
- Preventive & breakdown maintenance of the machinery.
- Drafting blueprint according to the requirement of client & explaining it to the fitter & welder and overlook the concerned fabrication. Maintained the bill of materials.
- Undertook Continuous Process improvement functions implementing Kaizen, performing Root cause analysis and Failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) for smooth functioning of the value stream and other tasks as assigned.
PROJECTS & TRAINING:
AAMCO Transmissions, Houston, TX, USA
- Successfully simulated the process at AAMCO Transmission facility in Houston by use of Arena Simulation software & Visio & project mapped using MS Project.
- Reduced the customer waiting time in queue and delivery time of the vehicles by almost 30% which came in for repair by simulating the flow process of the vehicles in the facility and increasing resources and decreasing wasteful activities.
Mahindra Sona Ltd, India
- Achieved a lower setup change-over time (improvement of almost 75%) for the whole line of CNCs at Mahindra Sona Ltd through use of SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die), Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen principles.
- Various techniques like time and motion study, color coding & modifications in the plant layout implemented to improve process time utilization and increase productivity of the production line. Project was tracked using MS Project.
- Actively participated in the In-house Kaizen and Poka-Yoke activities and implemented the same for the purpose of the project after deliberations with the workers and supervisors.
- Study the value stream and provide valuable insights for reduction in waste in the process.
