1. I am responsible for loading and unloading VGO, Number 6 Oil, and Asphalt.
2. Responsible for the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation of the assigned area.
3. To make certain that any and all federal and state required documents that must accompany the barge is on board and in proper order.
4. Communicate with dock personnel and ensure that each person participating in the transfer of the product understands what the product is and how it should be transferred and protected.
5. To participate in the maintenance of the boat and barge, and help with the training of newly hired employees aspiring to become Tanker man.
6. Handle lines and rigging during tow building, locking, and docking activities.
7. I am able to wear a negative or positive respirator, PVC foul weather gear, rubber gloves and boots to protect myself from harmful cargo contact. Must be able to wear a 5-minute escape pack, or a negative pressure respirator, or a supplied airline respirator.
8. I am able to adhere to all company policies, United States Coast Guard and Environmental regulations.

I have been awarded membership to the Fleetwide Manpower Pool.

As a member of the S.I.U. Deep Sea, I sailed on the S.S. Wilson. This vessel was a grain ship taking shipments from Port of Houston and Port of New Orleans to Dar es Salaam, and Mombasa Africa. Refueling was processed in Durban South Africa before the return voyage to the United States.
