As a substitute teacher, I was responsible for maintaining the classroom environment and teaching lessons provided by the teacher. Specifically, I substitute taught as a Math, Social Studies, Reading, Elementary, Music and Physical Education Teacher. While at S.U.N.Y. Geneseo, I substitute taught in Rochester City Schools and was a substitute teacher’s aide while home on my breaks.
Student Teaching Experience
Spry Middle School, Webster Central Schools, Webster, NY
Implemented a unit plan on Native American culture. Assumed responsibility for five Seventh grade classes. Used SMART board, laptops and other available technology in the implementation of lessons. Participated in the pep rally, newspaper club and team meetings.
East High School, Rochester City Schools, Rochester, NY
Implemented a unit plan on the public policy question, should the U.S. Government regulate the fast food industry? Assumed all responsibilities for grading and planning for three government classes.
Related Field Experience:
Organized and implemented a book sale for Eagle Elementary, Bethlehem, N.Y. The book sale sold used books that were donated by the community. Students in a 2nd grade and 5th grade class priced, organized and sold the donated books, and parent volunteers helped the students sell the books. The proceeds were donated to the Bethlehem Festival Fund, and extra books were donated.
Tutored in Literacy through SUNY Albany’s Literacy program. Observed and participated in a tutoring program with SUNY Geneseo’s Saturday Program. Completed observation hours for SUNY Geneseo’s School of Education at Columbia High School in East Greenbush, N.Y. Also, volunteered at the Elementary level for Bethlehem Central School District.
