Work Experience

November 2010 – Present Gammon Construction (Balfour Beatty Group), Hong Kong, People’s Republic of China: The Harbour Area Treatment Scheme (Hong Kong) – Price: 485 million US dollars.

Geologist

Responsibilities:

• Perform geotechnical mapping and discontinuity survey,

• Plan and supervise geotechnical works and contract administration,

• Interpret geotechnical monitoring data (groundwater, ground movement, convergence, vibration),

• Interpret ground conditions through ground investigation and probing ahead of tunnel face,

• Use NGI Quality System to determine and assign tunnel temporary support requirement,

• Prepare and compile technical report and technical drawings using AutoCAD,

• Perform detailed technical analysis of earth material and risk assessment of geotechnical hazards,

• Borehole core and trial pit logging;

• Field work inspection,

• Soil nailing works and drill record interpretation,

• Undertake detailed rock slope and boulder surveys, mapping and report preparation,

CAD Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Discussed engineering issues with the construction team and engineering department in order to produce clear and workable solutions.

• Managed interface with different designers including:

1. Exchange of information between BB and permanent designers,

2. Checking that the TW designs produced fit to the existing bridge structure,

3. Liase with designers in order to discuss the dimensional characteristic of the existing bridge.

• Assisted construction team with the production of construction sequences. Improving construction sequences in order to find the most efficient method

• Managed, checked and approved the work of two CAD technicians who:

1. Produced site sketches using CAD or Microstation software in support of the Engineering team for design and construction schemes including temporary works and construction drawings, utilities and services information, logistics plans,

2. Produced logistical and phasing drawings showing complex plant, material and waste movements in and out of the site,

3. Collated information for the production of the above which may include external contact with utility suppliers and liaison with Network Rail and their Designer, Jacobs and TGP,

4. Operated the 3D modelling software provided by Network Rail to aid the BBCEL teams in planning the works,

5. Worked with the document control team providing technical support and input,

6. Producing accurate 3D drawings used by the site engineers to plan their work.
