Heraeus Quartz America

Senior Process R&D Engineer, Austin, Texas 02/2008-03/2009

Responsible for new processing projects and the process and quality improvements in quartz fabrication. This included a new burner system for resizing quartz tubes.

Engineering representative on the Environmental, Health and Safety team.

Centrotherm Photovoltaics

Project Manager-Contract, Taiwan 10/2006-02/2008

I was employed by Centrotherm Photovoltaics Asia, in Taiwan as a Project Manager for turn-key projects of solar cell manufacturing plants and individual fast fire, diffusion & PECVD ovens.

I managed the inclusive tool move-in, facility utility hook-up, tool assembly, commissioning tests, production ramp-up and hand-over.

Before the installation and commissioning of production equipment, I worked with the customer and the facility engineer insuring the facility utility systems and conceptual design of process facility systems meet the standards that our tools needed to give them maximum performance. I also supplied technical support for our customer for all technical information needed for their integration into the project.

This included specification of process facility systems –deionized water, waste water treatment, waste water drains, exhaust Scrubbers, local abatement for PECVDs, chemical dispense system, bulk gas system and specialty gas system.

Managed a team of up to 25 engineers to complete turn-key projects.

Worked with the customer, engineers and suppliers in maintaining and improving processes and product quality.

Fong Tat Group

Project Manufacturing Engineer-Contract, Singapore 01/2006-09/2006

Production ramp-up of ceramic processes and improvement of product quality.

This included a thermal spray system and ovens.

Worked closely with quality engineering to guarantee consumer satisfaction, which resulted in a 71% reduction in customer returns from 7 ppm in 2003 to 2 ppm in 2004 (Silver Quality Award).
