High school graduate from Carbon Hill AL. Worked as machinist at B&D Mining Industrial Machine and Welding in Jasper at night and finished high school as I supported my Grandmother and younger brother. In summer vacations, I worked for furniture manufacturing co and loaded trucks and delivered in NY, LA, chicago, Miami before CDL came into play. Came from long line of drivers from crib up.

Driving experience is reported on DAK.

Presently employed as P&D at Estes Express,Specialized Div..Job duty consist of loading and delivery of merchandise sold by Home Depot retail stores. Semi truck with 40 foot flatbed and moffet lift is equipment used. Deliver to consumers and job sites. Start at 7am and go until last delivery is complete. Hand carry merchandise in homes andsites as instructed by PODs. 6day a week required and only holidays off are Christmas day and Thanksgiving day when HD stores close. Could deliver on s

Sundays if requested by customer.

Seeking employment elsewhere due to fact of 6 yrs dedicated service and no appreciation.We are seperate from Estes Express Lines even though they sign paychecks. Rate of pay has remained same for last 6yrs. I was driver supervisor until they eliminated job november a yr ago. Cut pay back to driver pay butstill expected to do job as well as drive. Cost me nearly 8000.00yr. They have cut oursafety incentive bonus out,2500yr. More work less pay don't add up. No costof living raises. Average now at $35,000-37,000.

When I hired in in May of 2005,we had 8 drivers covering 10 stores, now we have 14 stores and 4 drivers with no intentions of hiring drivers. We also have a transfertruck in which werun 2day a week from store to store avg time of 11-14 hours that we P&D at each store. Have an excellent manager whois limitedto what he can do for us, John Morrow. I still participate with John in dispatching and routing trucks and communicating with stores and driverson customer issues and questions. Enjoy the people I work with but disappointed on how they treat us.

Hard long days and work dont scare me. Family owns Logging biz so this is gravy compared to that. I have owned trucks and ran OTR for several yrs. Due to costof fuel and rate cuts I decided for local company job and no truck expenses and home time with family. 1 day a week is not enough and I have already missed alot of my childrens lives as they grow into fine young men. I would like to have more time before they are outof house as I was with my father. 41 yrs old and been driving mostof mylife.
