Although my forte is Electrical Design, over the course of my 35 year designer career, I have been fortunate enough to be tasked with a myriad of multi-discipline drafting assignments, such as those outlined below.

Architectural

Produce detailed floor plans from field measurements of clients’ un-documented facilities.

Produce building plan views showing detailed production lines with equipment reference designations and their locations relative to building columns.

Area lighting requirements based on client foot candle specifications.

Create topographical drawings required for Wind Turbine projects to show tower locations, tower lay-down and assembly areas, turbine tower foundations details etc.

Design and draw Remote Control Skid plans for Wind Turbine Controls. Including control Produce detailed building/shed layouts and construction details.

Electrical

All phases of Control, PLC, Remote I/O, Terminal/Junction panel design [i.e.]

Enclosure type, size and NEMA or IEC specifications or custom enclosure designing when necessary, including multiple-break operator consoles.

Mechanical

Produce detailed 2D & 3D fabrication drawings of machined parts and miscellaneous brackets and braces with tolerances, standard or X,Y ordinate dimensioning.

Produce detailed fabrication drawings of machined parts with tolerances, standard or X-Y ordinate and some datum dimensioning.

Produce detailed fabrication drawings from reverse engineering of parts.

Design jigs, frames racks etc. required to field install Wind Turbine power isolation and/or disconnection equipment.

Piping & Pneumatic

Produce detailed 3D fabrication drawings of Header Systems, support brackets, hangers and braces with tolerances, standard or X-Y ordinate and some datum dimensioning.

Specification and requisitioning of instrumentation and control components such as transmitters, solenoid valves, flanges, fittings, static & electronic gages etc. required to fabricate engine cooling supply and return header line assemblies.

Produce detailed 2&3D fabrication drawings of generator engine cooling systems, support brackets, hangers and braces utilizing AutoCAD 2010s’ built-in 3D Modeling capabilities.

Field Experience

I have developed design drawings from sketches and photographs I produced on project site “walk-downs”.

I have produced clients’ facilities documentation, by gathering the necessary data and in-putting it into a portable computer, while on site.

I have personally designed, monitored production and shipping, installed, connected, tested and assisted in “Start-Up”, of production lines and controls at client sites.

I have designed, monitored production and shipping, scheduled and supervised trades personnel for the installation of equipment and controls at new and up-graded production facilities.

Personal Highlights

I graduated High School in 1967. I enlisted in the US Army in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1971. I attended a GI Bill sponsored course of study at the Washington Drafting School (Now defunct) between 1970 thru 1971. I entered the civilian employment market at Buell Envirotech in 1972 as an electrical assembler in their electrical manufacturing shop. In 1976 I was appointed as the shops’ Detailer\Engineering Liaison. I bid on and succeeded in winning an Electrical Designer position in 1978. An acquisition by G.E. in 1981 secured me the position of Supervisor of Electrical Manufacturing Design & Drafting Department with eight designers in my charge. I left GESSI in 1988 to accept a Sr. Electrical Designer position, with the start-up company Project Integration, [now defunct]. The collapse of Project Integration in 1989 lead to my entry into the contract employment arena with United Technical Associates [UTA] as a Sr. Electrical Designer and ended in 2000 when I began at Digicon Inc.

My computer and CAD experience began in 1982 with GE Calma software on mainframe CADD Workstations. In mid 1984 the Manufacturing Manager and I configured and purchased the companys’ first PC based CADD station running AutoCAD Rel. 1.70 and since that time I have used all releases of AutoCAD through and including 2010. I am also proficient with AutoCADs’ Raster Design program. My interest in 3D drafting prompted me to purchase Autodesks’ Inventor8 training package. I have a very good working knowledge of MS Widows thru Windows7; MS Office2010, most standard file support/maintenance programs, e.g. FTP, WinZip etc… and various graphic/image management packages.
