INTRODUCTION & SUMMARY

I have over 30 years experience as a mechanical engineer. I have served as Project Manager, for plan /spec design projects, (HVAC, piping & plumbing)

My construction expertise includes roles as Sr. Cost Estimator, Construction Manager, , and resident engineer on various projects.

I have extensive expertise in design and construction administration of a variety of mechanical systems for air distribution, (HVAC) hydronic heating and cooling, the layout and design of central plants, large industrial pump systems, waste treatment plants, refrigeration equipment, plumbing, and fire protection including equipment and system application (s).

Specifically, I have expertise in design of HVAC systems relative to hospitals & health care facilities, laboratories, commercial, government, and marine applications, schools, power plants, hydroelectric & cogeneration plants, industrial & commercial buildings, high rise buildings, pharmaceutical, refineries, co-generation systems, office buildings as well as commercial institutions such as high rise / mixed use buildings, large grocery stores, warehouse conversions and telecommunication facilities (i.e.; plumbing, piping and related specifications, etc.), and many others.

My field project management construction experience includes high rise, mixed use facilities, industrial facilities as well as commercial and specialty applications such as data centers, hospitals, laboratories, and large civil projects including airports, pipelines and projects involving excavation, concrete construction and structural steel.

Activities included but not limited to, development of CPM schedules, cost estimates including line item costs for sub-contractors, long lead equipment identification and preparation of purchase orders.

I have taught classes for HVAC design, plumbing and estimating to insurance adjusters, and hosted presentations for the PLRB organization for insurance adjusters at the Westin Hotels located in Rhode Island, Chicago and Austin, Texas.

This was necessary for the insurance adjusters yearly license renewal requirements. T

The classes gave the insurance adjusters and attorneys the edge and information they needed to identify problems in claims, and knowledge gained to present information to the various experts as required.

Preparation of cost estimates for architect.

I completed a mechanical system design for a large hotel to include HVAC and the related hydronic system including pumps, piping and related instrumentation. Also, design of the chilled water variable primary and the heating water system included boilers with primary secondary piping distribution.

Work consisted of performing building load calculations, selecting and sizing all chiller equipment, boilers, pumps, valves, air handlers, etc. Design of central plant for the building, design of split air handlers for condominiums, design all piping systems including chilled water, heating water and condensate drains.

HVAC system for Nintendo. Involved reviewing the existing system for add on due to zone expansion.

Laboratory air exhaust system, including designing of air flows, and piping system design.

I was the Project Manager for a large collision repair center located in Bellingham. I worked with an architect out of Mt. Vernon for this project.

The project consisted of an extensive exhaust system for welding stations, an air scrubber application, HVAC, MUA ( make up air) units for heat & recovery, piping hydronics, for heating water with major components in the mechanical room, and plumbing design.

Office DX cooling system with baseboard fin tube hydronic hot water heating system.

LEED project.

I was the Project Manager for the Western Washington University design of a vivarian lab. The work included (2) two five story buildings, HVAC, Strobic Air exhaust system with run-around loop heat recovery, application of Phoenix valves for supply and return including ultrasonic humidity system, piping for hydronics, plumbing, and central plant design, i.e., chillers, cooling towers, and on-site steam systems.

Special application of steam/cage washing system.

Special heat exchanger heat recovery system for hydronic hot water and domestic water feed systems. Perform cost estimating for equipment purchases and general construction including time lines (CPM scheduling)

The building required a combination of natural ventilation in the West building along with under floor mechanical cooling in the lecture hall.

This work included contracts with various refinery projects to include piping design, pump applications and oil storage facilities and special exhaust and HVAC systems.

Also my company performed design-build contracts for various project for the city of Glendale.

By business started with only myself and at the time I went out of business I had 17 employees which included 3 engineers, 2 draftsmen, 1 project engineer, 1 project manager and 1 superintendent, various office workers and 2 field personnel. This number did not include union craftsmen. I also owned equipment and trucks.
