The CHAMPS Provider Enrollment Subsystem will allow Providers to enroll and update data quickly and easily in addition to improved Provider services. As of March 31, 2008 all Provider Enrollment Applications and updates must be completed through the CHAMPS system. This online system will replace the current paper enrollment process and turnaround forms (Bulletin MSA 08-13) will no longer be seen

The PA subsystem is a key component of the Community Health Automated Medicaid Processing System (CHAMPS). PAs are used by the State to review, assess, pre-approve, or deny selected medical or other services prior to payment. The PA process serves as a cost containment and utilization review mechanism, and quality assurance to support payment for treatments and services that are medically necessary, appropriate, or cost-effective

The Benefits Administration functional component of the Community Health Automated Medicaid Processing System (CHAMPS) supports a variety of customized benefit programs and modes of delivery of services. Each benefit plan supports a unique set of eligibility criteria, restriction criteria, services, pricing methods, and cost sharing components. Benefit plans include State Medicaid and non-Medicaid programs, such as Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS), and Maternity Outpatient Medical Services (MOMS).

The Claims and Encounters functional area processes transactions from initial entry through final disposition and payment determination. Each transaction is edited to ensure that the content is valid and can be fully adjudicated. The CE functional area provides enterprise-wide processing for required transactions.

Eligibility and Enrollment (EE) - The EE subsystem will allow users to check beneficiary eligibility through the online web portal in CHAMPS
