CAREER HISTORY AND SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Sr. Assistant Plant Manager, Anheuser-Busch, Inc., 2003 to 2009. Drove productivity improvements through effective labor utilization, reduction in downtime and cross-training for a manufacturing facility in New Jersey. Relocated in 2006 to a plant in Texas. Controlled a $700M budget and more than 600 personnel.

Increasing production with new processes. A significant increase in production was needed as sales were rising. Working with both brewing and operations personnel, developed new procedures and timelines to meet objectives. Increased production of 93,000 barrels per year, saved over $550K per year in transship cost.

Reducing energy usage and costs. Energy usage on a per barrel basis was reaching unacceptable levels. Created an Energy Conservation Team, a group consisting of leadership personnel from several areas of the plant. Identified new processes to reduce utility costs. Achieved 3% annual reduction for three years running.

Saving costs by negotiating new contract. Houston Brewery had been operating under a special contract with the City for water usage. New methods to conserve water had been implemented and usage had fallen below minimum level per the contract. A $1M penalty could be assessed. Negotiated a new agreement and contract with the City, avoiding the penalty charge.

Operations Manager, Anheuser-Busch, Inc., 2002 to 2003. Principle area of responsibility was packaging and shipping for a brewery in Texas releasing twelve million barrels annually. Implemented multi-line management enabling an expansion of personnel responsibilities and reducing salaried costs more than $300K.

Minimizing losses in material usage. Plant was in the lowest benchmark quartile among all plants for material usage loss in bottles, cans, crowns and lids. Managed a team that identified the reasons for the losses and determined corrective action. Reduced costs relating to losses by $115K and elevated Houston plant to upper quartile in benchmark ranking.

Sr. Resident Engineer, Anheuser-Busch, Inc., 1999 to 2002. Managed utility and engineering operations of the plant. Drove preventative maintenance for all utility / facility equipment to eliminate system disruptions. Managed major project, bio-energy recovery system. Executed all brewery capital work in a timely and cost saving manner.

Creating disaster recovery plan. Following damage to facility from tropical storm, including no power for 22 hours, created an emergency plan to recover from future catastrophic events. Developed a plan that included a methodical process to be executed by personnel. Plan included lists of contractors, suppliers, emergency phone numbers and rotation of personnel. Led to implementation of a company wide recovery plan.

Earlier: Maintenance Manager / Plant Engineer, Anheuser-Busch, Inc. Production Engineer / Production Department Head, Union Carbide Corporation.

Additional information: In excellent health and physical condition, works out on a regular basis. Enjoys reading and personal finance / investing.
