PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Outside Sales Representative Aug 2011 – Aug 2012
Greenstar Plant Products Inc. Mississauga, ON
Greenstar is a leading wholesale supplier and producer of quality horticultural products to a global and domestic market. Their products range from organic and organic-based fertilizers, garden accessories, hydroponic equipment, and growing mediums to decorative planters, horticultural lighting and control products.
Promoted and sold products and services to garden centres and indoor gardening retail outlets across the Greater Toronto Area, Central and Northern Ontario, reporting directly to the eastern Canada and national sales managers. Successfully developed new accounts, managed existing accounts and re-activated dormant accounts. I spent a quarter of my time reasearching and meeting with prospective customers in order to expand the company`s market. Paid close attention to customer feedback and competitive pricing and products, in order to maintain close relationships with customers and to best serve their unique retail demands. On multiple occasions I supported my customers by contributing to their special events, fundraisers and seminars. I practiced an honest sales approach, partnering with customers to earn their trust and develop mutual respect in order to equally support our business dynamic.
My greatest accomplishment in this position was increasing net sales by more than 50% over the previous year and exceeded my annual budget by over 250% in my first year with the company.
Retail Administrative Assistant Nov 2010 – Aug 2011
Sheridan Nurseries Inc. North York, ON
Provided administrative support to store management and acted as corporate office liaison.
Managed all in store communication in regards to store budgets, sales targets, health and safety programs, and company policy. Designed and maintained daily/weekly reports for all senior staff and planned weekly schedules for all staff and management. Implemented new policies and procedures as required by corporate office. Maintained staff database, filing systems, interstore shipping and receiving, office supply and IT management.
My proudest moment was when I was approached by both the vice-president of retail store operations and my store manager and was offered a higher position within the company as an Assistant Manager.
Garden Supply Sales Supervisor Sept 2008 – Nov 2010
Sheridan Nurseries Inc. North York, ON
Managed the Garden Supply and Hardgoods department. I was resonsibile for delegating staff tasks, inventory control, setting competitive prices, sourcing new products, maximizing overall margins, strategizing product placement, designing new displays and was a team leader in sales. I provided exceptional service at the ‘garden pharmacy’ desk where customers came to seek solutions to their lawn and garden problems. I would identify weeds, insects and disease that were plagueing their lawn or garden and recommend products to match their specific needs. I conducted on-site seminars on natural lawn and garden care solutions. I educated customers and trained all staff on the Ontario Cosmetic Pesticide Ban of 2009.
During my second year I challenged myself to overhaul and re-mechandise the store plant support and fountain displays. This change-over resulted in a significant increase (over 50%) in sales over the previous year. This achievment garnerd enough attention throughout the company that my techniques became the standard configuration throughout all nine stores.
