DISSERTATION WORK
• Dissertation work entitled “MICROWAVE ASSISTED FAST EXTRACTION OF MUCILAGE IN THE DESIGN OF FAST DISSOLVING TABLET OF LORAZEPAM.” as a part of M. Pharm second year.
Abstract:-
The objective of the present research was to develop a Fast dissolving tablet using natural superdisintegrants. Basic principles of Green Chemistry are best suited for Microwave process. This gives short response time and better yield of product, Natural mucilage preferred over semi synthetic and synthetic material due to their non toxic, low cost, free availability, emollient and non irritating nature. In current study there is an increased demand for more patient compliance dosage form. Fast dissolving oral dosage form that dissolve or disintegrate instantly on the recipients tongue or buccal mucosa. They have proved to be ideal for geriatric and pediatric patients suffering from dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing). These dosage form are advantageous in clinical condition where water intake is limited and for drugs undergoing high first pass metabolism. Recent advances in Novel Drug Delivery system (NDDS) aim to enhance safety and efficacy of drug molecule by formulating a convenient dosage form for administration and to achieve better patient compliance. The concept of formulating fast dissolving tablet of lorazepam. For treating epileptic condition can improve patient compliance, since epileptic patient have to restrict follow the dosage regimen for preventing sub therapeutic concentration, FDT will avoid missing out of dose even during travelling or other situations, FDT will avoid missing out of dose even during travelling or other situation, where there no access to water, offers a suitable and practical approach in serving desired objectives of faster disintegration and dissolution characteristics with increased bioavailability.
Therefore, in the present study an attempt will be made microwave assisted fast extraction of mucilage in the design of fast dissolving tablet of lorazepam.
