As the Safety & Environmental Coordinator at Oil City I am the managing authority in charge of implementation and auditing of Environmental & Safety Management Systems, policies and procedures to cover all environmental and safety aspects of a manufacturing environment. I provide consultative advice as management authority over environmental, health, safety and security force rules and regulations; to include OSHA, work-comp, and D.O.T. I provide organizational, safety, and environmental compliance awareness training to persons from various levels within the organization. At the University of Texas at Dallas I started out as a Safety Technician in charge of general safety training, campus laboratory inspections, and hazardous waste inventory, clean-up, and spill response. I was promoted by the department Assistant Vice President to overall operations Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator; becoming the lead project liaison for all environmental, facility maintenance & construction safety, and occupational health compliance and training. In my years there, I became the primary consultation for indoor air quality, ergonomic investigation, defensive driving management system, contractor safety, chemical waste-stream identification, compost management, and behavioral safety initiatives. I partnered with the Police, Facilities, Human Resources, and Research Departments to implement the campus environmental emergency response program I created and managed as a lean initiative toward training and maintaining the university’s first responder certified professional rescuer team; trained in first aid, CPR/AED, confined space and environmental spill response and rescue.
