As Senior Process Engineer, she has been responsible for leading individual units independently from concept through construction.

Later she joined Jacobs Consultancy group as Senior Consultant conducting refinery reconfiguration studies, due diligence projects as independent engineer for banks, and technology evaluation and selection.

Over the last seven years she has moved on to project management and has handled varied project scope from very early phase project definition and estimation tasks for a 3 billion dollar polyamide grassroots project in Saudi Arabia to construction phase of a new blast proof control room building and hot cutover of DCS system for an ethylene plant for a Houston based Petrochemical company.

Current project as project manager for design, fabrication, procurement and installation of a cryogenic shroud for NASA – as the cryo-vacuum Chamber upgrade project at Johnson Space Center for testing the James Webb Telescope under deep space conditions – has exposed her to handling government agency regulations and working with the complicacies of a matrix organization.

Project Manager

[2009-current]: Project Manager for James Webb Space Telescope project - Helium Shroud and High Vacuum systems.

This is a full EPCM contract for Jacobs Technology valued at more than $100 MM, and the project manager role for these two very diverse units involve managing a design team of more than 30 engineers, designers, technicians and administrative staff to define, design, manufacture, subcontract and finally constructing to modify and retrofit these units in Chamber A at the NASA Johnson Space Center facilities.

Extensive travel on the job for managing vendors and subcontractors is involved.

Project scope includes defining client requirements for the deep space simulated testing conditions, to designing an extremely tight tolerance cryo-vacuum shroud, procuring to very specific quality requirements and government code requirements as well as subcontracting for manufacturing and installation.

Job responsibilities include monthly project status and expenditure reporting to the NASA client, continuous budgeting and schedule monitoring as well as managing resources within the company to deliver the project with a high degree of customer satisfaction.

The project has already spent more than 150,000 engineering man-hours effectively and about 50,000 construction hours safely with no incidents. Subcontracting strategy and change management continues to be of critical importance in this project.

Sr. Project Engineer

[2008 – 2009]: Lead Project Engineer, Phase 2 Jubail Polyamide Project, CPChem, Jubail II, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Project TIC of over $ 3.3B. Responsibility included managing multiple foreign Licensorsfor different process units, and internal multidisciplinary engineering team of more than 40 engineers and designers to develop a full scale PDP/FEED package for the client. The scope also included developing PDP packages for all off-sites and utilities for the entire complex including developing the entire infrastructure to develop a “Greenfield” site – both site planning as well as IT and telecommunication infrastructure design.

The major challenge of the project involved technology selection for the three process units that were decided to be built, working with international technology providers (RHODIA and DUPONT) to transfer engineering information, planning procurement of more than 1000 pieces of equipments, preparing a full scale project schedule spanning 5 years for construction completion and startup, modular construction in Saudi Arabia and final PDP level process package development for process units including utilities and environmental waste management units.

The project spent about $80 MM in engineering man-hours over an year with process, instrumentation, piping, environmental, electrical, civil, procurement, estimation and project controls groups.

Sr. Project Engineer

[2007-2008]: Lead Project Engineer, Phase 1 XCP Chemical Complex, CPChem, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Project selection stage and development of various options and preparation of Class 1 estimate for the project.

Role involved working very closely with the Client team and with a team of consultants from Jacobs and through subcontracts to generate viable business options ranging from $3 billion to $7 billion worth project schemes.

Options included world-wide study of available technologies for the different process plants involved in this Nylon6-6 chemical complex, as well as shipping and handling of raw materials and products through modular manufacturing of process units to avoid construction phase resource problems onsite at Saudi Arabia

Phase I estimate process was completed within budget and schedule with a 96% client satisfaction grade and Jacobs was given the second phase of project definition as well.

Project Engineer

[2007-2007]: Project Engineer, Phase 5 Low Gel Project, CPChem, Pasadena, Texas. Project TIC of $30MM. EPCM scope for Pasadena Plastics Plant. Mainly construction phase involvement – facilitating turnaround and startup operations, preparing construction packages for commissioning phase. Project executed more than 40,000 safe construction hours.

[2006-2007]: Project Engineer, DCS Upgrade Project, CPChem, Cedar Bayou, Texas. Project TIC $45MM. EPCM contract at Phase 5 to upgrade the ethylene plant to Foxboro DCS system. Project involved the building of a new Blast Proof Controls Building for the Ethylene Plant and a hot cutover of the legacy controls system on the unit to the new DCS controls system by Foxboro. Main engineering work was with Instrumentation, electrical, civil, HVAC and architectural teams. Project received the Jacobs Master Builder Award.

[2006-2006]: Project Engineer, Canadian Crude Upgrade Project Phase I Estimate, Coffeyville Resources, Coffeyville, Kansas. Project scope was to define the process unit upgrades required to handle the changed crude slate – mainly additional hydro-treating, sulphur handling and associated Offsites and Utilities

Senior Consultant

[2005-2006]: Senior Consultant, Basic Engineering Process Design Package, CEPSA, La Rabida, Spain. Packages included:

- Crude Vacuum Unit

- Gas Con Unit

- Sour Water Stripping Unit

- Amine Treating Unit

Project scope included working with the main technology provider UOP, to generate the process unit package with major deliverables like the Material and Energy balance for process units and Utility Balance, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment detail packages, instrumentation packages and process plot plan.

[2004-2006]: Consultant for various small projects.

o Refinery Asset Verification, BP, Texas City, Texas. Determined the present day book value of all the units at the refinery based on current conditions of all the units and the original total installed costs of the same at the time the units were built.

o US Phenol Market Study, Townsend Polymer. Covered supply demand and pricing trends.

o Independent Technical Consultant Report – Hassad Petrochemical Plant, APICORP, JANA, Saudi Arabia. Provided third party independent review of the project, covering technology selection, site selection, applicable environmental regulations and project schedule and cost estimation for a new grass root Epichlorohydrin Plant for producing raw material for their Epoxy Resin Plant in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

o Refinery Reconfiguration Study, BP Cherry Point, Blaine, Washington. Scope included heavy Canadian Crude slate – utilizing the LP runs from the client and developing the optimum refinery configuration based on the new heavy and high tan crude slate.

o Polypropylene Project Independent Engineer’s Due Diligence/Compliance Study, Gulf Interstate Bank of Saudi Arabia. Responsibilities included conducting technical risk analysis of the technologies involved and operating parameter review, compliance of applicable environmental and safety regulations, project execution review, contracts review etc. and submit a comprehensive due diligence report to the bank.

o Hydrogen Management Study, ConocoPhillips, Alliance Refinery, Louisiana. Responsibilities included developing an overall hydrogen balance for the entire refinery, conducted a pinch study and recommend possible improvements in the hydrogen grid for the refinery, and reduction and recovery of hydrogen rich streams in the refinery for improving profitability.

Senior Process Engineer

[2000-2002]: Consultant for various projects.

o Area Lead, ULSD Project, Conoco Phillips, Trainer, New Jersey. Responsibilities included checking and quality control of all process simulation, equipment sizing and rating, heat and material balance and hydraulic verification of the entire Diesel Hydrotreater Unit and utilities, P&IDs and instrument and relief valve datasheets.

o Area Lead, CARB 3 Revamp, Chevron, El Segundo, California. Responsibilities included preparation and checking and quality control of all process simulation, heat and material balance for Alkylate Depentanizer and Isomax Depentanizer units and utilities, equipment data sheets and squad check, P&IDs, and instrument and relief valve datasheets.

o Process Engineer/Close Out, CARB 3 Revamp, Tosco, Wilmington, California. Responsibilities included technical checking and quality control of all process areas in the project scope which included adding an entire new refrigeration train in the Alkylation unit and adding a new Deisobutanizer tower to meet CARB 3 grade gasoline. Handled all process simulation, heat and material balance for process units and utilities, equipment data sheets and squad check, P&IDs, instrument and relief valve datasheets

[1995 - 2000] Stone & Webster, Houston, TX

Sr. Process Engineer

Assistant Job Lead, Ethylene Plant Revamp Project, Huntsman, Odessa, Texas. Full EPCM project with detail engineering, procurement and construction. Responsibilities included technical checking and quality control of all process areas as well as lead engineer for the utility section that included adding a new high pressure steam level, and a new cooling tower. Also the closeout lead on the job and handled the requisition of piping specialty items and relief valves. The areas specifically handled include crack gas compressor area, caustic tower, drier areas and utilities.

Area Lead, Grass Root Ethylene Plant, Thai Petrochemical Industries, Rayong, Thailand. PDP package and then the Detail engineering phase over two years. Responsibilities included the hydrotreater section with Chevron technology. Handled all PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, relief valves, and HAZOP study of the unit.

[1991 - 1995] MW Kellogg, Houston, TX

Process Engineer

Area Lead, Refinery Revamp Project, Lyondell-CITGO Refining, Pasadena, Texas. Responsibilities included identifying hydraulic bottlenecks in the plant’s existing main fractionator overhead air cooler area, suggesting the required changes, following though with all required P&IDs for design, and demolition.

Process Engineer, Plant 8 Revamp Project, Phillips Petroleum, Pasadena, Texas. Responsibilities included the propylene tower area, handling the whole unit debottleneck.

Process Engineer, Grass Root Plant, Qatar LNG, Qatar. Responsibilities included entire steam, air, and nitrogen balance.

[1990-1991] Toyo Engineering, Mumbai, India

Lead Engineer, Ammonia Storage Facility, RCF, Thal, India. Responsibilities included entire atmospheric storage of ammonia with refrigeration unit from design to commissioning, developing all P&IDs, material and energy balance, equipment data sheets for compressor, pumps, exchangers, control valves, and relief valves.

Commissioning experience for six months at Thal site from pre commissioning activities to start-up and cool down of ammonia storage tank.

Assigned Engineer, Ethylene Glycol Plant, India Glycol, UP, India. Worked on scientific designs basic package for the plant in the EO/EG handling, feed treating, and storage area.
