SUMMARY
Throughout my career I have had varied and broad experience in business, sales, management, quality and process. My formal education includes Chemical Engineering, Economics and an MBA.
My early career was at the interface between manufacturing and customers. Much of that time was spent working at paper producing facilities managing employees in quality, environmental and process engineering. My role was to guarantee product quality, improve the process, develop new grades, troubleshoot complaints and support the sales process. ISO 9000, SPC, SQC and other statistical techniques were used. I brought an innovative, system wide view to the business.
For the last 10 years I have worked with Nordic Engineering, Inc. selling products to the paper industry; first via my own company, later as an employee and finally as a partner. We identify companies to represent, sell them on our abilities and then market them in a successful manner to achieve maximum results. Flexibility, varied product knowledge, ability to multitask and significant travel are constants. We represent companies from Sweden, Finland, France, Spain, Austria, Germany, Canada and the United States. We are integral to the sales process, coordinate travel with our principals, often prepare quotes, collect receivables as necessary and handle the various activities associated with owning a small business.

Fox River Corporation, previously Simpson Paper Company, supplied paper for the text and cover market, filling for calendar rolls, light resistant matting for the framed picture market, and much more. As Technical Director, I had supervisory responsibility over engineers, quality and environmental personnel. Indirectly and sometimes directly I was actively involved with insuring product quality, improving process efficiency, developing new grades, resolving customer problems, and oversaw environmental compliance. Gilman Paper Company historically produced bag paper and coated board. We developed higher value added grades to improve overall profitability. Ones that I specifically contributed to included developing envelope and book paper. I supported continuing development efforts on baseball card stock, flour bag and other grades. As Assistant Manager, Technical Services I also oversaw product quality via hourly and salaried employees, investigated complaints and visited customers to understand issues and identify solutions. I represented Gilman Paper Company with an industry research group looking at the biological breakdown of paper. Served on a joint industry/US Postal Service committee with the objective to understand reasons behind mail processing failures and recommend solutions.
