I sailed as a watch standing QMED/Oiler for the commissioning and delivery of the jack up vessel PICO IV from Laffite, LA to Carmen, MX. Duties included conducting rounds for duty Engineer, pumping bilges & ballast, daily soundings, and engine room cleanliness. I ordered tools, spares, cabinets and shelving and worked out their placement. I also assisted deck hands as needed.

I sailed as a relief watch standing QMED/Oiler on the R/V Knorr. Duties included cleaning Alfa-Laval FO purifiers, transfer of fuel oil & ballast, raising & lowering bow thruster, watertight door & elevator maintenance, engine room cleanliness and prep for INSURV inspection.
Newport Shipyard (May 2007-April 2008)
My primary duties were to provide 120, 240 and 480V shore power to motor and sailing yachts, pulling cable, swapping connectors and/or breakers. Assist electricians install/repair generators, chargers, inverters, etc. Perform battery swaps and connector repair. Repair, replace and fabricate shore power pedestals. Hook up portable generators and cooling towers. I was responsible for all interior and exterior lighting, maintenance of forklifts, scissor lifts and a Genie Condor. I helped install new 16 camera security system with CAT5 connectors.

I successfully performed all duties of an AB including underway, anchor and quarterdeck watchstanding. I sailed as a Wiper fulfilling all duties of Junior Engineer day worker on the Ronald H. Brown. I sailed as an Oiler & participated in the delivery of the Henry B. Bigelow from V.T Halter Marine. Fabricated shelving and worked out placement for stores and created spreadsheets for consumable stores. I was responsible for all lighting, routine sewage plant maintenance and a firefighting ‘A’ Team member.
