Projects

M.Pharmacy Project:

Organization Natco Pharma Pvt. Ltd, Kothur, Hyderabad.

Project Title Formulation and Evaluation Of Deferasirox Dispersible Tablets

Under the Guidance Dr. J Srikanth, General Manager, FR&D, Natco Pharma Pvt. Ltd,

Karunakar K., Assistant Professor, Talla Padmavathi College Of Pharmacy,Warangal.

Duration 6 Months

Team Size 4

Technologies Used Super disintegrating and Aqueous dispersion technique.

Equipment used Multi-purpose multi station tablet press, Moisture Analyzer, Hardness tester, magnetic sieve Analyzer, coatin tin blender, Tapped density tester (USP Type I and II), Disintegrating Apparatus, Dissolution Apparatus, HPLC with UV detector.

Brief Description Deferasirox Dispersible Tablets were prepared as generic to the innovators ‘Ansura’ with the usage of both Superdisintegrants and Aqueous dispersion Technique where its disintegration time was less than 30 seconds and is bioequivalent to the innovators ‘Ansura’ meeting all specifications as required by the OGD(Office of Generic Drugs).

Project Highlights:

• Pre-Formulation studies were performed.

• Used D-tooling in Multiple purpose multi station rotary tablet punching machine.

• Followed Process Optimising Parameters for getting Optimised Formula.

• Evaluation studies were performed.

• Undergone stability studies.

• Analytical studies were performed using HPLC with UV detector, XRD studies.

B.Pharmacy Project:

Project Title Formulation and InVitro Evaluation Of Erythromycin Microspheres.

Under the Guidance Mr.V.kamalakannan, Asst. Professor, Malineni Lakshmiah College Of Pharmacy, Singarayakonda.

Duration 1 year

Team Size 4

Technique Microencapsulation using Solvent Evaporation Technique.

Equipment used Tapped density tester (USP Type I and II), Disintegrating tester, Dissolution Apparatus (Type II), and Mechanical stirrers.

Brief Description Erythromycin is a ‘Macrolide antibiotic’ possessing bactericidal activity at higher concentrations. Erythromycin has short biological half-life of 1.5hours and eliminated rapidly. And so Erythromycin microspheres are formulated using different ratios of drug and polymer (ethyl cellulose) to provide sustained release delivery system. In-vitro drug release studies were carried out up to 12-18hours in phosphate buffer (pH-7.4). The drug release from microspheres of (Drug: Polymer) 4:6 ratio shows the most constant and prolonged release. The characteristics of the prepared microspheres are conducive to the formulation of sustained release drug delivery system.
