M.S. Biomedical Sciences, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA, Jul 2008
Thesis: Using Caveolin-Mimic Peptides to Affect Caveolin-1 Regulation In Vivo.
Work Experience
March 2012 - Present Wuxiapptec, Philadelphia PA
Associate Scientist, Virology Operations
Performing virus based assays in a GLP setting, testing client material for viral contaminants, utilizing in vitro and in vivo assays, including hemagglutination and hemadsorption. Adhering to GLP standards, documentation, and SOP guidelines.
June 2011 – March 012 Analytical Biological Services at Merck, North Wales, PA
Cell Culture Scientist, Assay Development
Maintaining, culturing, and banking various cells lines. Preparing both small scale cell deliveries for assay development and large scale deliveries for robotic high throughput screening. Experience in delivering both live cell deliveries in suspension and deliveries from frozen cell lines, as well.
March 2010 – June2011 GlaxoSmithKline, Kind of Prussia, PA
GMP Operator for Fermentation Operations, Clinical Activity Supplies
Scale up cell cultures from vial thaw to 100 L reactor inoculation. Thaw, maintain, and grow cell cultures using sterile technique. Sample of cell cultures from large scale bioreactors. Revise, read, and follow SOPs, record data . Adhering to GMP standards, documentaion, and SOP guidelines.
July 2004 - March 2010 Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA
Research Assistant, Department of Cancer Biology
Researched therapeutic treatment for atherosclerosis through inducing a knock out phenotype in a wild-type mouse using Caveolin-mimic peptides to affect Cav-1 function in vivo. Isolated mammary fibroblasts and observed morphology via whole mount and BrdU incorporation using INK4 KO mice as a means to study breast cancer. Executed assays using Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography FPLC) to interpret and analyze results. Routinely performed animal handling and surgeries.
Research Technician, Department of Anatomy, Pathology, and Cell Biology
Observed the expression of PKC isoforms involved with myelination by cell culture. Studied the effects of ethanol on differentiating oligodendricytes and Myelin Basic Protein (MBP) expression by western blot, immunofluorescence, and confocal microscopy.
Oct 2002 - June 2004 The Lankenau Hospital, Wynnewood, PA
Research Technician, Lankenau Institute for Medical Research
Identified and characterized a mutation in the hamster UV-1 cell line that causes a defect in DNA repair. Performed PCR, mammalian and bacterial DNA isolations, bacterial transformations and mammalian tissue culture.
