Senior Tooling Designer
Started as plastic injection mold maker, but within a year was transferred to a new automation department that was being formed. I worked with a mechanical engineer to design and build automatic machines to produce fiber optic and other products for the telecommunication industry. While in this position, I learned AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop and then AutoCAD Inventor 3D solid modeling software. After about five years I was transferred to what was called an advanced engineering group. While in this position I received extensive training on Kaizen which we used as we designed the production lines as was our directive. It was our job to take new products coming out of engineering and in the quickest way possible, design, build, test, and verify a full production line. Upon completion of that, we had to crate the line up and ship it to whatever plant it was going to. We then went to that plant and set the line up and trained the people there how to run it, working out any bugs that may show up.
I have traveled to Mexico and the Dominican Republic to install these lines. While in this position, I had to travel to different locations to check on various types of machines to use in our processes. Also while at this job I learned to use most of the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite.
