To Whom It May Concern:
I am seeking employment as a civil engineer. Most recently, I was an entry-level engineer at CH2M Hill in
their Aviation Department in the Transportation Business Group. I am currently looking to get involved
in a different aspect of civil engineering.
Cost estimates and quantity takeoffs were a main responsibility of mine as an Engineer 1. I also assisted
in preparing general layout plans that included paving and demolition plans. Assisting in the storm water
design and underdrain design at several airports was also a responsibility of mine.
On every project I was involved in, I would strive to perform quality tasks in a timely manner. It is a
priority of mine to produce quality work and be efficient and timely whenever completing a task.
I attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil
Engineering Technology with a graduation date of May 1st, 2010. In spring 2009, I passed the F.E. exam
and am now an Engineer In Training. I took various courses at Pitt Johnstown and was very interested in
the subject matter. I excelled in my classes and am excited to continue pursuing a career in this field.
I completed a Construction Management course, exposing me to project proposals, bids, estimates and
Microsoft Project. I am proficient in the use of Auto-CAD, Microsoft Word and Excel. The labs offered at
Pitt Johnstown require technical reports and aided in my ability to write and edit engineering reports.
I believe I would be a good addition because I am a motivated and hardworking individual. I will bring
the experience from my prior employment and my internships along with my excitement to begin
something new to the company.
