Regional Maintenance Manager (promoted from Terminal Operations Manager,

2008)

o Managed 32 port terminals in the Caribbean in the maintenance area with 5

maintenance managers, 40 non-exempt employees, and multiple contractor's

and indirect reports

. Established and wrote new vendor management policies, processes and

standards which incorporated vendor risk and regulatory compliance and

led to better oversight and more clarity for both parties to achieve

required goals

. Worked with the corporate legal team on writing and negotiation vendor

contracts, central procurement on cost initiative and with internal

audit on employee invoice approvals process to establish documented

information for senior management to make high level decisions

. Corporate oversight for the maintenance of assets and equipment in the

Caribbean which included 7 cranes, 4 straddles, 22 Ottawa/Capacity

jockey trucks, 16 Volvo/Kenworth road trucks, 1,900 chassis/trailers,

60 small and medium forklifts, and numerous generators, heavy duty

vehicles and large port equipment while adhering to DOT and OSHA

. Planned, implemented, and trained staff and management in a cutting

edge Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) FleetWave in 13

Caribbean ports in 2009, leading to increased uptime from 97.1% to

99.4% ultimately receiving recognition in company newsletter

. Oversaw and prepared the maintenance budget of $5 million for all 32

ports and prepared capital expenditures $1 million for planned repairs

achieving targeted reductions of 10% each year

. Monitored and tracked all electronic requisitions in Caribbean

maintenance departments using PeopleSoft, resulting in the elimination

of duplicate purchases and a savings of $100,000 for the company

. Co-Led the development of the 5 year capital budget plan for

purchasing new equipment and disposal of old outdated equipment

Terminal Operations Manager (2006 - 2008)

o Managed the Operations, Equipment Control, Interchange, LTL Warehouse and

Maintenance with 3 direct reports, 2 contractors and supported all

customers on the island of Freeport

. Assisted chief-mates and captains in preparing stowage plans for Ro/Ro

vessel and Lo/Lo vessels.

. Prepared and led the Business Continuity Planning and Emergency

Planning teams for disasters including Hurricanes, Floods, Major Power

outages, IT Blackouts and Fires.

. Supported the sales and marketing team in developing operational

strategies generating an additional 10% of revenue in demurrage and

container/chassis rentals, while maintaining superior customer service

. Supported by ship deck hands and union stevedores I managed the

loading and discharging of break-bulk cargo(palletized goods, LTL

cargo, vehicles/heavy equipment and Ro/Ro cargo) with the use of ships

crane, fork lifts, jockey trucks and reach stackers

. Collaborated with Project Cargo Logistics customers to ensure targeted

cargo arrived at the dry docks from the LTL warehouse and port in a

timely manner so that development projects were handled in the order

it was scheduled

. Standardized all processes in the areas of operations, maintenance,

warehousing and equipment control which in turn allowed the workforce

to work safely and efficiently

Senior Terminal/Vessel Planner (2000 - 2004)

Managed the Terminal/Vessel Planning Office which included 9 Terminal

Planners, 6 Terminal Assistants, 2 Park Controllers and provided

operational instructions to 10 Super Post-Panamax cranes, 70 straddle, 10

superintendents and 300 operations personnel in a 600,000 TEU annual

transshipment port

. After working as a Terminal Planner from 1996 to 2000 I was promoted

to Senior Terminal Planner based on my ability to quickly master

vessel and yard logistics operations

. Trained at the Port of Felixtowe in a Rubber Tire Gantry (RTG)

operation on Trinity Terminal, Languard Terminal, and Dooley Terminal

. Managed all vessel planning, import/export and transshipment

activities on feeder vessels (180-850 TEU's), trans-Atlantic vessels

(3,200-6,600 TEU's) and trans-Pacific vessels (3,200-4,000 TEU) for

MSC, Maersk-Sealand, CMA-CGM, and SAF Marine

. Held pre-vessel arrival and operations meetings with Superintendents

and Maintenance Management to go over safety and productivity issues

and also ensure that the vessel berthing location was aligned with

cargo in the yard and any equipment maintenance issues

. Supervised post-vessel operations to review any issues that may have

aroused during the operations such as crane down time, malfunctioned

vessel gear etc

. Developed safety policies & procedure and participated on the terminal

safety committee to make recommendations to executive management to

add new, adjust old or remove outdated procedure

. Evaluated and made adjustments to all stowage plans prepared by

Terminal Planners for safety violations for the stevedores and vessel

crew

. Collaborated with chief-mates and captains prior to vessel operation

to ensure all stowage's met their vessel stability, Hazmat, reefer and

out of gage requirement

. Planned and oversaw along with superintendents the loading and

discharging of wooden shipping creates, flat rack cargo, and

vehicles/heavy equipment with the use of wire lifts, spreaders, over-

height frames and nylon straps

. Oversaw and coordinated the downloading of all inbound and outbound

EDI/Baplie insuring all corrections are made and information is

accurate

. Developed and conducted training programs for the planning office's

certification of planners & park controllers.

. Supervised and coordinated the implementation of NAVIS/Sparcs

(Terminal Operation System) and the training of all port personnel

. Maintained accurate overview of the yard and vessel operation

resulting in 99.9% stowage accuracy rate and high on time departures

. Ensured all International Maritime Dangerous Goods Codes were not

broken, all reefers and Out of Gauge were stowed correctly and no

stack weights were broken on the stowage plan

. Created a departmental recognition system for all Terminal Planners

when they complete a full year with no errors which led to increase

were made
