Safety Officer

Patrol various assigned school areas within Metro Detroit on foot around perimeter of property, including parking lot checking for fires, vandalism, suspicious activity, and safety/fire hazards.

Log all security activities including incidents requiring to be reported to supervisor, making immediate on-site investigations of crimes or offense and assist police in collecting evidence, witness and testify in court as court as may be required.

Prevent and control incidents of violence directed against school facilities, pupils or staff, monitoring student behavior and interaction of student’s parents and school staff.

Work closely with employees and other officers to ensure the security of the building and safety guidelines are followed.

Watch for and report irregularities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and security doors left unlocked.

Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, reckless behavior or carrying forbidden articles.

Maintain order at school grounds and building while classes and activities are being conducted

Assist any persons in building or on grounds needing directions and information.

Entrusted with building keys to open doors and storage areas.

Custodial Maintenance

Trained to clean floors, windows, fixtures, stairs, restrooms and door; using various tools such as vacuum cleaner, stripping, buffing, and waxing machines.

Follow procedures using of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures Conducted inventory checks of supplies and report discrepancies to immediate supervisor.

Trained in safety and emergency procedures including personal protective equipment.

Responsible for the sanitary and hygienic presentation of public areas and restrooms.

Winter grounds maintenance by shoveling snow from walkways and spreading salt.

Detailed cleaning of common and restricted areas including Principal’s office.

Attend to any spills or cleaning emergencies around shift.
