Objective_______________________________________________________________
On site project engineer or project manager:
I am knowledgeable in the project process including preparation of all phases of engineering packages and have worked in a broad range of basic chemical process technologies. I have demonstrated ability to plan, organize and lead projects and departments.
Plant operations supervision:
I have supervised two plants at Dow Chemical; 1) Methocel*- methyl cellulose and 2) CPE, chlorinated polyethylene. Both plants were batch operations and both were in the process of changing from proto-plant to a full production.

Background Summary--Dow Chemical, 1965 – 1994__________________________
* Plant Operations Engineer
Provided engineering for plant improvements in Methocel*
and CPE. Methocel* went from using tumbling reactors to stirred
reactors and CPE went from an R&D project to a Dow major product
using changes in reaction times, and drying and blending technology.
Improving EPDM’s drying and packaging technology changed the
way DuPont Dow marketed their product.
* Plant Operations Management
Superintendent of the Methocel and CPE plants. As plant superintendent
I was the coach of the plant TEAM. I built unity, safety, and
responsibility. Everyone knew the goal and their part in making it happen.
They also knew that reaching the goal safely was my only way.
* Safety Management
Safety Superintendent for Environmental Operations and Pipeline
Department which included two natural gas stripping units. I hoped the
reason I was chosen for the job was my belief that if the job was worth
doing it was worth doing safely. The job was hard. Pipeline work was all
over south Louisiana and west to the Texas line. It also was a kick! There
were no incidents during my term. The two gas plants and environmental
operations plant were visited weekly for safety meetings and discussions
on safety related topics.
* Project Management
Manufacturing representative for a CPE plant engineered at Dow’s
Rotterdam Engineering offices and built in Germany. The U.S.
plant was good but with the help of the Europeans and with testing, the
process was improved. Midway of construction, however, I was called
home to manage a project to install the improvements made in Europe to
U.S. plant. This was done on time and in budget.
Superintendent of the Plastics Project Group for the Dow Louisiana .
CPE, HDPE, LDPE, and LLDPE were the Plastics Department. I was
selected to be the project manager for the department. I managed 4
engineers with projects at these plants.

In 2008 I went to work at Exide Technologies as a project engineer. In mid 2009 the plant was shut down. I have worked for Exide on and off since then when they had a project that needed engineering. These projects have included environmental, water and gas line location and documentation, roofing, grounds maintenance, melted lead kettle mixing, foul water holding tank bid selection, and a system to collect landfill and leachate well water and move it to a holding tank. This work is for the duration of the project.
Project Engineer, 2008-2009
Exide Technologies Battery Recycling and Secondary Lead Smelter
• Specified and installed caustic tank storage and containment
• Installed a calcimined coke bucket elevator feeder
• Installed wheel wash for permitted containment building
• Project coordinator for the design of lunch room and change house modifications for blood lead reduction
• Project Engineer for construction of two landfill cells for Blast Furnace crushed slag
• Project leader for replacement of permitted containment building roofing and siding
2007: Plant Engineering Services
Project Engineer:
Flint Hills Resources Coker Modernization Project
• Evaluated Feeder-Breakers for crushing coke
• Specified requirements for a clamshell bucket Crawler-Crane for removing coke fines from a settling pond maze
• Participated in P&ID reviews Plant Operations and Foster Wheeler Design Engineering
REC Silicon Plant Projects
• Provided alternatives for supplying compressed hydrogen to the silicon hydration unit and the silicon reactors to provide increased capacity
• Evaluated options for cleaning the reactor filters in the expansion project
• Collected data for evaluation of pipe line stress between the silicon hydration reactors and the vaporizers
2006: Gramercy Alumina, Gramercy, Louisiana
Project Engineer:
Evaluation of deficiencies in fire protection found by FM Global resulted in engineering and installation of sprinkler systems in a Critical Spares Warehouse, a Powerhouse cooling water tower, a steam driven air compressor and boiler feed water pumps.
Engineered and installed:
• a dust scrubbing system on the bauxite-unloading gantry
• an effluent containment system to prevent high pH water from leaving the plant
• an alumina railcar loading system
• an acid containment repair and protective coating
Evaluated:
• a sodium sulfide blending system
• vacuum pumps vs. steam vacuum ejectors for energy savings
• improvements for a bauxite weigh feeding system
