Personal Philosophy of Health Care
As a Family Nurse Practitioner my health care philosophy parallels those basic values of all nurse practitioners which encompass a holistic approach to practicing medicine. The holistic approach signifies that the practitioner deals with the social and human problems of the patient as well as the physical issues. This entails teaching patients and their families the physiological and psychological processes involved in their treatment plan.
Practicing with this approach affords all parties involved to have a better understanding of their health issues and ultimately the treatment plan becomes a shared responsibility. The objective being to seek satisfactory resolution to the health care needs of the patient while taking into consideration the total self and encouraging active participation in setting and pursuing health care goals.
