To Whom It May Concern,
I am Keyanna Gartin, a recent graduate from Indiana University Robert H.
Mckinney School of Law, I am looking to expand my professional horizon.
Currently, I work in Risk Management for Defender Direct and serve as an
Adjunct Professor for the Paralegal/ Legal Studies program at Brown Mackie
College. It is my outgoing personality, perseverance, and experience that
make me a strong candidate for the position
I have gained skill and exposure to different areas of the law by working
for various law offices and government agencies. In the past, I have
interned for the Law Office of Everett Powell and the Law Office of Carl
Epstein, where I drafted motions and interrogatories. I also have done
volunteer work at the Marion County Prosecutor's Office through the law
school's Pro Bono Program, where I conducted legal research concerning
Miranda warnings, Search and Seizure, and issues concerning the Right to
Counsel. Further, I have worked as a Judicial Clerk for Henry County
Circuit Court and the Indiana Court of Appeals, where I researched and
wrote opinions on matters concerning the Sentencing Guidelines, Ineffective
Counsel, Parole Revocation and Abuse of Discretion.
Throughout law school, I have drastically improved my legal writing,
research, and analysis skills. I have expanded my ability to develop clear
and concise writings. Additionally, I have gained practical knowledge and
experience after taking courses such as Mediation, Interviewing and
Counseling, Alternate Dispute Resolution, Moot Court and Trial Practice.
Further, I won a mock jury trial where I represented a Defendant being
charged with Murder. In addition to my prior work experience and law
school training, I have completed 40 hours of mediation training and become
a certified domestic relations mediator.
Based on the foregoing, I am confident that my experience and personable
disposition would be an asset to your office. Therefore, I have attached a
copy of my resume for your review. Thank you for your time and
consideration.
Sincerely,
Keyanna R. Gartin
