HIGHLIGHTS OF QUALIFICATIONS

• Most recently as part time Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence, (CWOCN), with a stand alone hospice caring for the patients with chronic or complicated wounds, fistulas, ostomies, tubes, and problems associated with incontinence. Worked with hospice staff nurses and other staff in performing direct patient care, staff orientation and inservice education, and management of wound and ostomy supplies and other durable medical equipment used in the home and in facilities where hospice clients reside. 12/08 to 05/09.

• Employed full time Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence, (CWOCN), with regional health system home care division performing duties as outlined above for wound, incontinence and ostomy patients. Worked with other CWOC nurses and other staff in performing direct patient care, staff orientation and inservice education, and management of wound and ostomy supplies and other durable medical equipment used in the home. 4/05 to 05/2008.

• Performed the duties outlined above part time for same organization in the acute care hospital, rehabilitation unit, long term acute care hospital and long term care facilities. 11/03 to 1/04. Also worked part time in hospital's Endoscopy Unit. Duties include admitting out/inpatients for multiple endoscopy procedures, starting IV's, administering moderate sedation and assisting patients post-procedure with recovery and informing caregivers of their responsibilities after discharge. 03/04 to 04/05.

• Employed as only CWOCN by hospital and home health agency associated with it in rural and urban settings on island of Hawaii in Hawaii. Duties similar to those in New Mexico. Duties also included instruction of new nurses and nurse's aides during hospital orientation and several other frequently educational inservices on skin/wound care and difficult ostomy pouching solutions. Also assisted in wound and ostomy product selection, hospital bed overlay rentals and upgrading beds located in the hospital. Created many new policies and procedures for nursing in preparation for JCAHO review in 2001. Home health department rated 100% at this review. Also functioned in home health agency in ICD-9 coding, performance improvement projects, home care chart reviews and all documentation teaching for nurses, therapists and aides, and assisted nurses in private duty of medically fragile children. 03/00 to 01/03.

• In New Mexico worked full time a a CWOCN for leading health care system in the region in acute care, long term care, rehabilitation, and home care settings as well as acted as educator in these facilities performing inservices and orientation training for nurses, therapists, and nurse's aides. CWOC nurses treat patients with chronic or complicated wounds, fistulas, ostomies and other skin problems associated with incontinence. Also lectured at several local wound care conferences. 02/96 to 12/99.

o Worked part time as consultant for national rehabilitation corporate hospital with patients requiring long term wound care.

o Performed as consultant/instructor for wound care product company Smith & Nephew in over 5 long term care facilities in west Texas on wound care protocols and proper use of wound and skin care products to ensure these facilities passes state surveys. Also taught nurses and nurse's aides at these facilities basic skin and wound care, pressure ulcer prevention, and use of ostomy equipment.

• Employed as CWOCN for Lakeland Regional Health System in southwestern Michigan. Performed CWOCN duties as outlined above performing direct patient care in acute, long term, and home care settings as part of a team of three CWOCN's. Assisted with inservicing of new nurses or aides when needed. 05/95 to 12/95.

• Attended certified WOC nurse school, (CETN), at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. 02/95 to 05/95.Prior to WOC nurse school worked as Registered Nurse case manager for Homecare Inc, home health division of Lakeland Regional System, average caseload 25-35 visits per week. 06/94 to 02/95.
