POSITION SUMMARY

Lead category management team in the development and ongoing innovation of best-in-class category management methodologies, especially those pertaining to the strategic category business planning, product assortment, pricing, promotion, and customer relationship marketing. Lead store design and space allocation / management planning initiatives to ensure the in-store experience effectively supports unique banner strategies and meets the changing needs of today’s customers. Develop, lead and maintain strong and innovative working relationships with vendors and suppliers. Works with banner executives to ensure best practices are implemented in operations and that banners needs are addressed efficiently.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Development of best-in-class category management practices and processes, focusing on: category business planning; product assortment, pricing, and promotion strategy definition; store layout and product adjacency optimization.

• Manage and guide the category review process. Coach Category Managers and Category Analysts through the category review process.

• Development of category business planning and analytical methodologies to facilitate banner-specific merchandising, product assortment and promotion strategies.

• Ensure best-in-class category management practices and processes are utilized.

• Development of innovative customer-centric store design/redesign, space allocation and product layout strategies.

• Development of standardized, quantitative methodology for determining (and systematically re-evaluating) category roles and strategies to ensure constant alignment with customer preferences and banner strategies.

• Oversee measurement and tracking of category performance and benefits associated with implementing improved category management processes.

• In conjunction with Human Resources, participate in development of a category manager competency model, standardized position descriptions, performance management strategy and evaluation program, training and development program, and recruitment and retention strategy for the meat national category management team.

• Play key role in development of fresh co-manager training and competencies

• Work with Category Managers to establish overall category performance and financial goals.

• Work with Food Safety and Fresh Inspection teams to ensure implementation of company procedures throughout procurement and operations.

• Oversee the training and development of Category Management staff within their assigned major category. Take an active role in the selection, hiring and development of new staff members. Communicate and manage to established performance expectations for staff.

• Review financial performance of categories, including market share, sales and profit generation and pricing scenarios. Work with the Category Managers to understand and overcome financial variances. Assist the Category Managers in achieving targeted growth in market share for their assigned categories. Establish pricing strategies. Reflect the Core Values of the company. Oversee major vendor/supplier negotiations.

• Ensure Category Managers have an up-to-date understanding of customer preferences in assigned categories.

• Maintain current awareness of best practices in category

• Conduct Company as well as competitive store visits with Category Managers on a regular basis to gain merchandise insights.

• Ensure business processes and workflow standards are consistent across category teams and consistent among Category Managers.

• Act as liaison between meat bakery deli merchandising and banner operations executives.

Deli-Bakery operations to achieve maximum sales and profits by reducing shrink and controlling labor costs across the department.

EDUCATION

• Graduate college degree in Bachelors Of Science Food Science

• 30 + years in leadership role in meat, bakery e pastry,deli industry

• Must have analytic skills and the ability to think strategically. Be able to write thorough business plans and communicate ideas I have 2.500 personal recipes. New Gluten Free, and Sugar Free. Not Sugar added,

• Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously

• Must be a team player and interact with staff at all levels/functions of the company and its operating units

• Excellent oral communication skills
